Yep, I know how that goes. Though I'm fortunately done with all the writing classes I'll ever have to take (I think, I hope...). On the other hand, I have all the hard engineering classes left.

I use a little bit of everything.
For 3d: 3ds Max and Bryce
For 2d: PhotoShop and CorelDRAW (but not anymore, only PS now)
For Xion skins: PhotoShop
And for hand-drawn stuff, nothing beats pencil

and since I don't have a Wacom tablet, I use a Logitech MX Revolution... it's an awesome mouse.
