People who say one thing and prove another, without ever having to change their words, are the kinds of people that create trust problems. Their actions should prove who they really are, and if you can pretend to understand what's going on, you'll know even more.

If they really like you, then perhaps it was just a misunderstanding. But if they provide evidence of the opposite, there's no reason to stick around them. Learn the skill of reading people, and you'll understand your world a lot better.
