I saw it in my magic crystal ball
Your job sounds like fun, but I guess it depends on the motivation of your students.

Huum it depends mostly on themes choice of the teacher^^...if i stay only in art history as Van Gogh, Picasso, Rubens or Watteau, they would kill me, but if i change my themes a lot, as photo, street art, light painting or lego art...héhéhé, i will be the best !
is your magic crystal ball can tell me if i'll go to work tomorrow ?...we are in red alerte in my country, it's about the rain...

My magic crystal ball needs to be repaired at the moment because it couldn't bare all the water it saw

OK wow that's impressive, I just saw one of your drawings and came to poke around your profile-- how long have you been studying English? I mean you imply German is your native language yet all your favorite books and music are English. I must congratulate you, you look pretty young yet have a better handle on a foreign language than I (or anyone other Americans I know) could even imagine.

Oh no, writing lots is fine- more interesting to read! See, I want to be a linguist so talking with someone like you could be really fascinating. I was under the impression that Swiss people knew German and French both- I guess it's more divided then I thought.
Language-learning is way different in the USA- you don't usually even have an option of learning one until middle school (grades 7-9, ages about 11-14) and it's almost always a choice of Spanish, German and French-- I chose Spanish and stuck with it until I finished high school which was just a few months ago, but very very few people stick with it that long.
That's really incredible that they start kids on English at age 8 where you live... I wish I'd had that chance!
And that's sort of odd that English music is more popular than music in your own national language... I guess it's just a cultural thing, people are very stern, proud and conservative when it comes to language policy in the USA. The only German music that's really popular here is Rammstein- but I'm sure since you can actually understand them you don't like them; I've looked up what some of the lyrics mean and they're really badly written!
Well maybe we can chitchat about such things more. I don't know much about the different varieties of German, differences between Swiss German, German from Germany and Austrian German, etc, so I'd love to hear about stuff from someone who's grown up speaking it.
And maybe (with my brother's help- he studies German) we could try talking in German

Well, that stereotype is truer than you'd think: it's common to study a foreign language in America for only 2 years, and then never use it again, just because taking the courses looks good on resumes. So even though almost everyone takes intro-level foreign languages, no one really uses it or gets good at it, and just forget after a while. An American speaking a foreign language at the level you obviously speak English is really rare; that's why I'm so impressed by you, because I also know how incredibly difficult English is to learn. Even I don't like it! It doesn't make any sense

I'm glad that I grew up in a German speaking country, because I heard from many non-German speaking people, that it's hard to learn German properly. Especially because of articles like "der, die, das".
Maybe the hard part of English is the different times.
I grew up with 2 languages: German, because I was born and have been raised in Switzerland and Albanian because of my parents. But I have an uncle in America and my 2 cousins there speak only English. And my father's and older sister's English is good too, so all in all I always had a nice relationship to this language
And again, there's the English music, which is always present

Well, I've always thought that English would be a pain to learn later in life because of the spelling. Example: Rough, through, though, lough, trough... all -ough words, yet none of them make a G or H sound, and all of them have different vowel sounds. English spelling is just sooooooooooo inconsistent; that's why I like Spanish so much, it's completely phonetic, and the letters always make the same sound. But, you're right, as much as it makes me sound like a proud, pompous ass, it is an important international language & it's good you "had a nice relationship" with it
Although, if I remember right, German is the most used language in Europe, and it's a popular one to study where I live- as I said, my brother takes lessons at school, and so did most of my friends.
Also, I was wondering, have you ever heard a band called Eluveitie? They're from Switzerland but sing in mostly English, and sometimes a dead Celtic language called Gaulish (Gallische in German; not really something you'd run into every day so I looked it up in case you would have trouble ) but anyway, they're not like on the radio or anything here, but around holidays you can find some of their albums in stores; I was wondering if you'd heard of them since your'e from their country haha.

No, I've never heard of this band. I know one person, who listens to Metal but not with Celtic elements.
I love celtic ornaments and like Irish music though
