In that case, "debate" on the Revolutionary Left is simply preaching to the converted. After all, it was (and still is) the same in other one-party-rule scenarios in history. My, how things rarely change. But I have got to hand it to them, at least they tackle the Creationists with actual Thermodynamics, and Quantum Theory when it comes to the nucleus (or neutron interactions thereof (albeit slightly ironic since Quantum Theory is partly based on uncertainty, and so is not readily taken with a Marxist ideology of Scientific Determinism)), to say the least.
I must admit that they are learned on that count. But remember, in debate one must not have their oppinion locked in a mental fortress, and barrage the opponent with your ideology until the opponent is repelled away. One must at very least leave some bait, and lure them into a trap, before closing it around them, ensnaring their own held ideology. At the very least. At least then debate isn't stifled, which is counter to objectives. After all, you want to convert people, not drive them away. That's what many of the preachers of the world, of any doctorine, fail to understand.
And so, without sufficient propagation, their doctorine shrivels, and dies.

Yes, I agree that most of the people on places such as these who are in these "communist" groups are nothing more than young Democrats (the US equivalent of Labour over here, except even more sleazy. In fact, they're all as corrupt as each other), or people who just don't like America. They aren't real leftists per se. They are the ones who protest globalisation in vast rallies, yet drink Starbucks' coffee, talk on a mobile phone connected to AT&T, and have some food to eat at a McDonalds restaurant.
The truth is, leftism in Western society has been largely relegated as a youth "fad", almost like the usual suspects - Goth, Emo, Jocks, etc. These are the middle-class children who buy Che T-Shirts, but are completely unaware of what he did, and so these children walk around, as ironic metaphors. Leftism in a general sense has almost become as manufactured as other youth trends, so you will have to look hard to find true communists on this Web Site. As with all doctorines, communism and socialism take a commitment, so don't be surprised if those you talk to suddenly change their attitude. To them, it is fashionable. One can apply this critique to environmentalism in the same way, and discover the same truth.
In short, most people you meet under-18 here are not true to their beliefs. It's just a question of fashion, because they are weak minded; sheep being an apt description as given earlier. You'll find that with the right as well as the left.
OK, so that is cynical, but it still rings true none the less.
