A friend. But there again, the misuse of "I love you"...that's what bothers me the most about that. They say "I love you" but don't mean it at all, saying "I meant you're a really good friend." If I'm a "really good friend" then don't say "I love you." just say "Hey, you're a great person." not "I love you."
