I think so... But I also think when someone saw some similarities, it's just... too much obvious...
None would saw it until then.
I know people have a heart and you're right, but she can easily learn her mistake by drawing some original art like she does.

I... don't know how to reconfort people and I know it's not my place, but... she need to stand against this and prove them she can do better than before. If she can see the differences/similarities between her art with referneces and/or other people's art, she will know that she can be inspired to draw an original art.
