Methinks I have a thing or two to learn from you.  I am the same way, yet still spend hours upon hours trying to make clean, precise lines and such.  Loosening up might be good for me.

oho! For sure give it a try : )
Speed also comes with practice, year by year I am drawing faster and in better quality
Good exercise for improving speed, quality, and observation is sketching from real life, take your sketchbook to the bus, train, mc donald (; D ) zoo .etc and try to captive smth before it will move to far from you . u. /
or your own dog can be a good model too.

Though, I respect patient ppl who are able to spend some hours over details to make this REAL feeling or INTENSE feeling @ u @

Yeah I def need to just do sketches more instead of full blown pieces all the time.  Still kinda in my sculpture mindset from undergrad.  Sculpture takes almost literally forever, so if I would start a project I had to be super serious about it.  The drawings for them also had to be pretty technical and precise.  I'm also OCD as heck so I'm just anal about EVERYTHING.  My sculpture for example:

I'll get there and loosen up a bit.  Just need time and practice, like you said.  You give me hope
