I have the same feeling, I feel like I'm ancient. Sadly due to the government'a bull shit I had to drop out of my history degree and change colleges to go for welding and engineering, not terribly disrupt about it but I was only a semester away from my bachelors. In the summer I beilve my fiancé and I will be moving back toward Rochester but with the "children" we have to stay a bit out for land and to find a place that will accept them. I'm right now tied up traing my two service dogs, one for cadaver work and the other for tracking/search and rescue. I'm funded by both the state and navy for it but it's very time consuming. Other than that life is life I suppose. How about your school? How is that working for you?

dude, the welding and engineering sounds awesooome though. Is it fun? i finally finished fine arts...only an associates but its something to put on my resume. Out of sheer luck, one of my past classmates is working on a parody card game which I've been having fun with and they're preparing a kickstarter for it. So its my first ever proffessional work right bow and hopefully if all goes well I'll keep getting work with them. Pixel art which I've never done. In the real world it's been a struggle with depression and lots of anxiety, my moms health insurance made a mistake on health insurance so I'm waiting till I can get some help(7 years on and off meds and therapy) I moved out to live qith my mom and they want me out on my own by summer. Going to school made me feel safe from having to face the real world. now that schools done, I feel stuck with retail. I want to move out so bad and take my grandpas cats because my stepmother hates them but its sooooo hard finding any plave that will take animals let alone I assume your dogs are big so I wish you the best of luck with that. Also, Training two at once is crazy! Are you doing that for yourself or is that a requirement for your job?

As far as the two boys go the best way I have found to explain it is a trainer trains me to train my dogs. I have 5 total my fiance has a 40 pound therapy dog to help her around, she is suffering from stage 3/4 ovarian cancer so her little pitty mix helps her along. My two boys are pups so still growing. I have a coon hound mix so we assume he will be around 50-60 and my wired haired pointing griffon is 65 now and still growing. we also have the coon hounds sister as our barn dog and sara just rescued another pitty. When I went in I chose welding due to that fact i grew up in construction and never tried it. its a blast i absolutely love welding I'm very glad I have found it. I hate and love health insurance all at once, we are getting alot of shit because the Navy is still hesitant to give gay couples shared benefits and her health expenses are starting to catch up with us. That card game sound awesome, all good things come with time. Its hard to keep that in mind but it is true. due to our area and the fact that I'm so active in the navy I am having a hard time getting a civilian job, I would kill to even work at mcds right now. its sad but thats the point I am at now. We are also planning on where to next, as we both want to leave new york and naturally she wants to move west and i want to go east, so yeah a bit of a rift there.

you guys have literally the most awesome variety of dogs. yeah jobs are a real pain. im struggling just trying to find a second part time. these people want 24/7 availability and I'm in the city so you think it'd be easier. when my dad left active duty he ended up getting stuck back working at lowes for lower pay, which hes been working at for like 10 years now cause he can't find anythung else. i just keep getting told to try temp agencies but those places turn over rates are probably insane.. Have you guys thought about actually getting q ranch house farther from the suburbs? Im sure theres call center work you can do from home.

I understand that, the sad thing is I have that kind of availability but because of the reserves they say that one two week deployment is to much so they look else where. I have a bit of a grudge against Lowes at the moment, the were higering exactly what I was trained to do in the Navy but of course they took some 16 year old that had no clue what he was talking about because he is a more reliable constant source of work. I don't understand how but apparently he is, and yet they claim up and down that they are one of the most friendly military companies in the US. even better they would know almost a year ahead of time when my deployment was, like i leave June 25th will be back July 10th. its getting old but it is what it is i suppose. Ive been through two agencies and even they haven't been able to get me even general labor jobs. I suppose its because I am not a single drugged up mother, because down here that's who has the jobs. anyway we were in the market to by a house but we decided against it because of the direction ny is taking so i dont know thats almost a year and half from now.

That's freaking ridiculous and completely unfair. I mean that dude they hired will probably quit before then too. I say don't even tell these people that you are military until they confirm you got the job. I mean, are you active duty or is this the only, once a month and few times a year where you have to be somewhere for a week or two?

And yep, I totally agree on the people who have the jobs around here :/ My current job I'm available every single day of the week, 24/7 and I only get 12 hours a week and I've been there twice as long as half teh people there and I still get the least hours and the most reliable person picking up people's shifts and showing up because of the insane turn over rate. Everything is part time, can't get even a decent number of part time hours because I don't have a family to feed and yet I can't tell you how often I hear and see the people that do get these jobs just don't even put in the effort and quit after 2 or 3 weeks.

I know the job hiring process isn't supposed to be biased but it totally is when it comes to past employers,availability,everything. My most recent interview I told them who my past employers were and they just ripped those companies apart and was basically expecting a bachelors degree in computer engineering when it was not a requirement in the job description(entry level plz). It was a complete waste of time and really bummed me out. I used to work at Target and I've reapplied about 8 times but I'll never get it again because I quit to finish school so they will never hire me back because of a reason like that. I feel like I'm going to be stuck as a cashier for the rest of my life because nobody wants to hire and train someone who's just going to quit. These companies are always hiring the people who give the bad rep.

What about local govt jobs or jobs that require you to drive around and such. I heard there's going to be a job fair at Greece Ridge Mall in the beginning of Feb sometime. I'm living in South wedge and there is NOTHING.

Sadly because I'm an officer when they type in my social it automatically will pop up with my rank and lastname, its like who I am now. I am full time support so even though I don't live on a base or near a base I am more or less active even though I am a reservest, so that's all these employers see. What really upsets me is that I have had job offers in Rochester because alot of companies are in desperate need for welders who actually know how to make and read blue prints, but I live almost two hours away from Rochester at the moment so that's really biting me in the ass. the crap these employers are coming up with is ridiculous. Like there is a girl at Sara's work who stole her husbands GI Bill to go to school for nursing, she quit the animal hospital because her husband was 'making bank in the army' and now that the GI Bill is gone she waltzed into the animal hospital and they took her right back like nothing happened. Yet Sara took time off to get a surgery done that was not an option, it was life or death at that point, and it was a two month fight after her healing time to get them to even give her hours on the weekend. It deeply saddens me and concerns me with what our country is coming to, class "A" example is NY. its just sad what they are doing to the small people, the everyday crowd. we are disposable, yet we are not and because so many of us are desperate for anything at this point, it is only being addressed to be over looked because again we have no choice to take what we can get. 

Just the change from me going from enlisted to officer has changed how people treated me. when I was enlisted it was thank you for your service, our prayers are with you and all the typical military support but the moment people saw my with gold bars on my shoulders it all changed. like I personally knew the big wigs in Government, they became rude and cruel, like I single handily destroyed this country. Its sad how others are quick to place the blame rather do something about it.
