Well my birthday it was actually rather eventless (is that a word?), but I can now buy alcohol outside of bars, clubs, restaurants etc so some would say that the fun is just about to begin

You are doing what I always only dreamed of doing:
Doing fan art of TGS. I always wanted to draw something above 5th grade art skillz, but I never had the time to improve. You sir made my dream of seeing fan art of Jesse Cox, Crendor, TB, Dodger, JonTron, PBG and all the great guys and also make it funny come true.

I'm truly glad that to hear that I've done something like that for you.
If you truly want to draw fan art of TGS, then I think you should. If there's something that I've learn by doing this it's that you don't have to make a high quality drawing for it to be good, the idea behind it is what really matters.
But if you want to get better at drawing but don't have the time, then you need to make the time. It's all about priorities. If you draw then you get better. I often draw in my notebook during classes in school. I've done that since my first year in school so I've learn to draw and listen to the teacher at the same time, if you're not used to doing that then it's probably a bad idea to do it.
I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.
