dA is still relatively well known. I can't list many art communities that are as well known as dA is.

Pixiv is really, really shiny...like, wall of moe every time you visit. Not that it's a bad thing because the art is usually fantastically good. It's just I like to see a bit more variety than that.

And tumblr...I had migrated to tumblr and attempted to establish an art blog of sorts, but it wasn't for me. It was a mess, especially because there was no gallery function and you had to go through the tags. You can't turn the high res option off if people do decide to download your pics. There's no watermarking system, like dA has. The posts shared through reblogging don't update themselves if you edit the original post...Yeah, in short, tumblr caused me more headaches than dA ever had...Still, Tumblr's pretty good for looking at and sharing cool things though.

IMO, I think the sharing option is super handy if you want to make yourself well known. Although, the tagging system is a bit harder to use since tumblr literally does not have a place to separate what type of content (e.g. fan fic, icons, etc.) goes where, so like, my fanart of something from Naruto might get pushed back by all the stuff posted by fanfic writers and etc. 

I like using both still, so I post on both my dA and my art blog. :0

What made you delete your old account? I was really confused when I couldn't find you on dA one day.

I decided I needed an overhaul. Because tumblr is "hip" and where all the artists seem to be, I moved to Tumbr to start a serious art blog--well, that went downhill because of Tumblr's post organization. Also, you can't talk to anyone effectively on tumblr.

I'll still keep my tumblr, though, to remain relevant, but dA's my art home still.

Yup. I really hate Tumblr's messaging system. It's so... bluh. 

I'm a bit bummed because I like my dA account, but most of my watchers are gone. I'm just bummed that dA doesn't let you upload multiple images for a submission though. You have to manually create a collage of all the sketches you made opposed to just submitting multiple picture for one post. You think dA would start doing that, since Pixiv already has that option.

Ooh, true. The lack of the function here on dA doesn't bother me that much, though. I think because dA wants each piece to stand by itself, they don't implement the multiple images option.

I'm opening commissions soon, around the same time as I launch my patreon. You can commission me on or off patreon. I also plan on doing sketch requests, if you're interested--an upcoming kiriban here on dA (look for the journal) and a monthly raffle for it on patreon (just for donating a dollar or more XD).

I'm just working at a small local company.

I once organized all my art files...it was nightmarish. But I got all my commissions in one folder eventually XD It's good to keep records. I know that I don't have records of all my commissions and commission samples because some I completed at con, couldn't get to a scanner, and sold them right away. I'd say that I have records of...90%-ish of all commissions I did though.

Dang! All in one folder? I usually organize them with multiple folders, breaking them down by category/year. >w> For your commissions at cons, did you take pictures of them before giving them to their commissioner? That's what one of my friends did when she went to a con.

Do you know exactly how many you did?

(I think I did over 500 during my 6 years, but most of them were for game currency/not real money and were generally very bad)

I have records of 50-ish distinct commissions...I think I kept records of less than I thought...

Some I took (crappy) pictures of before I gave them away to commissioners (don't know where they are). Some I missed because I needed to give them away right then and there.

I also only do a fraction of the amount you do, since most people only tend to commission me when they can see my face, ahaha...sad :/

I usually just go on forum based sites and open up a thread. Most people give me virtual items in return, so I'm not really getting anything out of my commissions. >u>
