# About me

Pilots is - forgive me the metaphor - an airport for those who are flying around deviantART, and share the love/passion/fondness/interest about planes, ballons, birds, paper planes and even UFOs

The idea is to gather people with common interest, and to allow those who like that kind of art to find it in a easier way.
It will also prove that there is a great deal of art in relation to the Air, for those who had any doubts about it...

Above all, is a place to share, to learn, and to take off...

Hey!

If you dont have anything against it I would like to affiliate our groups.

arsmilitaria.deviantart.com/

My newborn group is specialised on high detailed military illustrations (including aviation) and it will host only the finest deviations and will gather some of the most talented artists.

I sent the request. You have to confirm it. In fact it would be better to send an affiliation request from your side if you have some voting procedure and some administrators are absent or if the request expires in the meanwhile.

You should also consider to join us

And yes pls. add the Affiliates section if you agree.

Hi,
I am not a member of this group, not being a pilot (my father was), but I am hoping to find someone who could assist me with some fact-checking. In the novel I am writing, an individual has his own custom-appointed Gulfstream V which he uses to fly weekly between SFO and HKG. The facts I am trying to confirm are as follows:
1)- would a standard two-person crew be sufficient to fly this regular route, assuming a privately owned aircraft following a heading of 308.7 from SFO? (I know return would be shorter due to prevailing winds)
2)- If the Gulfstream were to strike a bird landing in Hong Kong, is it unreasonable for the plane to be grounded for a minimum of two weeks while repairs are made? What sort of damage could cause this? (I was thinking a damaged turbine) Would there be repair facilities in Hong Kong (in 2014) capable of doing these repairs?
3)- Would a Bombardier Global 6000 be a workable replacement, or would it require a 7000 to make the trip non-stop, and again, could it be done with a two-seat crew?
If you can help, I'd ask for you to please PM me, or go to my journal page Pilot help neededHi everyone,
first, for those that don't read my "the Deviant is" widget, I have pneumonia, and have been bedridden for a few days (going back to bed after this), so I apologize to those awaiting responses from me, I'll get to them when I feel better.
Lying in bed gives me lots of time to think, and I've gotten worried about a couple of items in "The Centaur" around Mr Lee's (the Dark Haired Man) private aircraft.
In book one, he is flying in a Gates LJ 55C, which is used mostly for flying up and down the West Coast. For his bi-weekly flights to Hong Kong, he has a Gulfstream, and that is what I need help with mostly. I know very little about civil aviation, what I know is mainly through friends and family, and none of them could answer these questions for me. I am hoping to find someone on who could assist me with some fact-checking, or to point me to sources that I could use. In the novel, Lee has his own custom-appointed Gulfstream V which he uses to fl so as not to hijack this space.

hey guys,

you just this week posted a pic of a pilot's uniform sleeve, yet declined to post this: [link]

seems like a clear-cut case of anti naval aviator bias.

Qphacs In reply to TreborNehoc [2010-11-17 12:04:52 +0000 UTC]

The link you posted is of pants and shoes, and has nothing to do with aviation.
That is why it was declined.

TreborNehoc In reply to Qphacs [2010-11-17 12:31:11 +0000 UTC]

at the risk of arguing (which I'm not) it has at least as much to do with aviation as stripes on a jacket sleeve.

anyway, if you couldn't tell from my comment, i'm only making a joke. forget it, no reply necessary.

hi there!
The image it self is related to aviation but not in a very straight way! i would vote negatively if someone sent me a photo of some pants and shoes of any airman/ airline pilot.
As for the image itself is lacking quality and a little blurry.

ps: i did bother to check what the photo was before giving it my negative vote.

Fighter Pilots

Q: How do you know if there is a fighter pilot at your party?
A: He'll tell you.
Q: What's the difference between God and fighter pilots
A: God doesn't think he's a fighter pilot.
Q: What's the difference between a fighter pilot and a jet engine?
A: A jet engine stops whining when the plane shuts down.

Ok, I'm thinking of making a tutorial of all the things I have learned in airshow photography, and those tips you pick up. Any one interested, or would like to help?
I'm no expert, and don't claim to be, so a collaboration on this would be beneficial

But then I found this page...
