Rendering, rendering, rendering. I hate rendering.
It's so time consuming. But it does make everything look pretty.

I'll definitely keep that in mind! Working alone is certainly tough, but at the same time you've got a certain amount of paranoia when it comes to your story and characters.

Which LOLcat said your quote?! IT's the best thing a LOLcat ever said almost.

2:
I have the exact same experience with Skyrim!!! I'm trying to get my contest entry done, the house needs to get cleaned up, I got money I need to get on the internet and go make... then Skyrim takes over. Right on the day I thought I was really gonna get stuff done!

2: I know, right? I'm actually really hoping I can get some work done during the week between Christmas and New Year because I had enough vacation days to take off. But I've barely scratched the surface of the main quest! I've just been wandering around doing random side quests and exploring dungeons!

My problem in Skyrim is I created a "No Fast Traveling policy" for myself. From what I'm told, that would have been more useful in Oblivion, which I never played, but still. It makes everything take a lot longer! Plus, because of that I try to get as many things done each place I'm at as possible, and I don't use markers or Clairvoyance unless I'm frustrated. So I keep getting lost on all the snowy mountains trying to use little but a compass, and I'm constantly finding new locations all over the place. Sometimes I'll be on my way to somewhere and discover a new Word of Power or Major Quest Dungeon while I'm on the way and do it while I'm there. That's what happened when I was wondering around in the mountains with Brelyna and found these dwarven ruins out there. I KNOW I wasn't supposed to be there yet because when I beat the place I didn't have the dungeon item to go deeper after the boss- who I beat with a cheap trick! I heard there's some treasure that's important to the main story down there. I don't know, but now that I beat the place the back door is ready and waiting for me.

I got the house in Whiterun at last, so I'm moving out of the dorm at the College of Winterhold... but me and Lydia can only carry so much stuff from there in one trip, especially when we gotta save room for the stuff we find in lighthouses and Forsaken Caves on the way back!

But I think I can finally get my comic done!
The good news is all that Skyrim and dA gave me an idea for a joke to use in my contest comic...

i read your journal and was surprised to see you have a batchelors in animation from full sail. i was considering going there for the same degree. can i get your opinion of the program and the university?
i figured ide better ask someone who has been there before i go trusting the internet.

Glad to share!
I personally loved it! But it does take a certain mindset to get through.
Most classes are only about four weeks in length and the schedule shifts from month to month.
The lectures and labs are typically four hours each and you usually have at least two classes a month.
One month you may have a 9am lecture and then a 5pm lab on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; but your other class on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday has a 1pm lecture and a 5am lab.
If you're dedicated to the work there won't be a lot of time for sleep or a job unless you get lucky on the schedule. But it's worth it if you can stick with it.
The instructors are very knowledgeable and the most of the lab staff are former students doing internships, so the pool to draw help from is great.
My only regret is that I didn't pay as much attention in classes like dynamics, rendering and rigging. Those fields take a lot of tweeking, waiting, tweeking again and some programing to get right. I've always been more hands-on, so things like modeling and animation were what I clung to.

In short, if your going to take it seriously go for it! It's a good school!

thanks. like i said, ive been considering it, but i also see that ill have to get all of the basic, and boring, classes out of the way first. like the math and reading stuff, then transfer all my credits and stuff elsewhere to take what i want.
im glad to have found someone who has something good to say about this. just about every other review i read about the school had something to pick at. but those students probably didnt take it very seriously and slacked off in class.

PlasticFrogCG In reply to shadowblade275 [2011-10-31 21:19:42 +0000 UTC]

Actually when I was there Fullsail had the math and English classes included so they could get accreditation and you wouldn't have to transfer credits from another school. I think you still can do that if you wish, but you'll have to get in touch with their information services to find out.

I'm sure they have changed some things. Even when I was there it felt there was always a constant flux in the program. But that could have been because they were in the process of upgrading the Computer Animation course from an associates to a bachelors.

Just be sure which program you want to go into! I met a lot of students who actually wanted to make art for games and signed up for the Game Development program, only to discover it is actually more coding and math than learning to make the art.

yeah, im no good with coding, lol. im sure they would allow a transfer, the thing is im taking all those classes al a local college where its cheaper, then moving up to the other. this way i can get it all done without worrying about room and board and all those other expenses. does that make sense?
i think the program confusion might have been why i found all those reviews huh? ill be sure to ask about everything before making my final decisions.
