It was a lovely chapter. Sly does seem quite sick : \
And it's cute how protective Ricky is of Lexi already: and how the two bucks have welcomed her so well, especially Ricky: since he never really knew Lexi.
I wouldn't say the story is slow. You're leaving room for description, suspense and character development: it would suck if you put in loads of action and sacrificed describing Ace and Lexi's developing feelings towards each other. I love how the story's going.
So don't listen to those who suggest you 'speed up': you're the author - do what you want!

i liked Ace the most when they were camping (and getting ready for camp) and when Lexi hallucinated and started to cry (when she imagined Ace to be that guy who hurt her back in utah)
it just shows how much he understands the damage that jerk did to her. how he isn't like 'this'll be a headache' and leaves her.
also i liked it when Tech explained the whole animal instinct protectivness (when they were defensive of lexi against Ace)
all in all we seem to share a similar depiction of Ace, but what's nice is reading on and not knowing how he'll behave (aka when you're NOT the writer
OH!!! and i forgot ! i also loved that little part in the story when the bank was being robbed? and a man took lexi and started to ... well 'u know what i mean' but Ace saves her and she cried into his arms! i really loved that part!!!
