To me, it looks like he is looking at his reflection of his inner self, at his dark side. That to me is the interpretation of this piece.

It is about a little girl who was harrassed in school and abused by her family, so one day after her father hit her she ran away to a near by town; Silent Hill, be friending the monsters of the town including Pyramid Head, along with Alyssa, who takes her in as her own daughter.
