# About me

Multilingual, Black Belt, sortakinda Israeli Oxford grad.

Recovering girlfriend material, occasional cynic and inveterate daydreamer, I lost the will to write for a while but it's come back to bite me in the ass and now I can't stop.

So, while posts may be sporadic and of fluctuating standard I am writing again. I write because there are stories that are begging to come out every time I watch people in the street and on the train; because the world is huge and tiny and scary and wonderful all at the same time, and because sometimes, it's only in letting the words spill out onto the page that I really get what's been circling round and round my skull rattling sticks on the fence as it goes.

I write because I'm a linguist who occasionally fails at language, and because I'd like to think that somewhere in the rushed scrawlings on restaurant napkins and bus ticket spaces and the backs of the reports I really should have been redrafting at work, there are the beginnings and the growing pains of something actually worth reading.

The work I post is going to be a bit rough around the edges, but I figure since I am too, that's just individual style coming through. Or at least, it can be until this writer sorts her material out and gets it right.

Enjoy?

You're alive! And posted writing?! It's not Christmas yet, miss, stop spoiling us, haha.

How are you?

You know, I went through your favorites - since it's a very manageable endeavor - and realized that the reason we know each other is because of a piece of my writing that doesn't exist anymore in the form it once did. That's crazy to me.

But yes, thank you for the recent favorite, good miss, it really is good to hear from you and I truly hope all is well.

Haha, yes I'm alive! As are you!

Yeah, what can I say, I got caught up with novelling, and then there were sports events and all kinds of craziness involved and writing was kind of this thing that happened on post-its at work and the backs of bus tickets and it all sort of got lost along the way.

BUT. The writing is happening again (finally!) and some of it has been a bit out of the box for me, so we'll see.

How are you, dude? Long time no hear, though again I have been keeping tabs on your posts and thoroughly enjoying them. Serious respect on the quality, you can see it getting better over time and developing.

Hope things are good, drop me a line and let me know what's new?

Carmalain7 In reply to Quester1 [2013-12-12 20:01:45 +0000 UTC]

What kind of sporting events? Anything you were competing in?

And don't worry about it, I know where you're coming from. I probably the most inconsistent writer in the world, my writing will just up and leave completely without even telling me all the time. I think it may steal some of my money on the way out for bus fair and go and visit another lover.

Me, I'm just figuring things out. I'll probably have a journal post going into detail in a month or two once I've decided where I'm going to be working and living and what life has in store for me. It's just crazy to me that the future is now, I wanted to be in school forever.

But yes, thank you so very much - sometimes I'm not sure if my writing has gone anywhere. I'm the kind of person who believes my best writing is always behind me and only stops to appreciate the present when it turns a year old and I realize that I'm just caught up in myself. It exists both in the music I write and in the writing, it's so weird.

But yes, I'd love to chat sometime! At the very least, I appreciate exploring music with people of your musical tastes and caliber .

Hey, how's it goin'?

i just figured that, while some time has passed and i'm really rather late to the party all together, i'd just shoot over here if only to at least inform you that:

your choice in enjoying Porcupine Tree's music is pretty much the best choice anyone could ever make;

also, your interests are fascinating, can you let me know if you ever come to the U.S. so we can get tea or lunch together sometime?;

also, whilst i'm not the most affluent of prose critiques - as it really is something i consider myself far from proficient in - i thought i'd at least inform you that i particularly enjoyed the imagery and underlying emotional currents in the piece 'Gathering Dusk' and also that i didn't laugh at all at your poem. Didn't even chuckle actually. Definitely blows away my first attempt i ever made at poetry by like this much *holds out arms as far as they can go (which is pretty far since i have a 191 cm wingspan - or so says the metric converter i just used)*

but mostly i came to thank you so much for, out of all the outrageously talented artists, writers, and various other deviants here on dA, choosing to take some of your time to watch me; it truly is an honor good miss. i promise you i shall do my very best as to not disappoint.

Thank you again and best of luck to you in all your endeavors.

Hey dude, thanks for the critique - short, but hey, so long as someone's reading it they can point out what I'm doing wrong! Otherwise:

- Yeah, PT are beyond cool. And they were even better live Glad we agree on that point.

- You're a strange person for finding my interests interesting (I'm sure that kind of repetition is illegal somewhere...), but thanks nevertheless. Any trips to the US are likely to be a fair ways in the future, pending funding committees being nice and finding some excuse to send me, but if you ever want to talk Anglo-Saxon poetry, Norse sagas, or pretty much anything pre-13thC, just drop me a line, I'll be more than happy to chat.

- The honour is all mine. Just think of it as pre-empting any risk of not being able to find your page when (not if) you come up with something spectacular. I'm sure you won't disappoint at all.

And last of all - chill out on the converter. We Brits work in feet and inches too

Thanks, and good luck to you too.

Well, if you ever decide to delve further into poetry definitely let me know; i would be honored to give you feedback on such or at least give you some pointers on things that i wish someone had told me when i was first starting out if you were interested in that. i would actually feel slightly more confident i could provide something at least a bit helpful in some way if it were poetry, you know?

Yes they sure are; Steven is one of my musical gods, i'm still unconvinced that he isn't Midas in disguise if only for the fact that everything he touches truly is gold.

(maybe somewhere but not here) i'll send some luck your way that you get the funding to go wherever you might wish to go for sure! As for you interest, i'll actually be *hopefully* studying abroad in Denmark in the Fall so i only hope that people there don't get sick of me talking about such Scandinavian cultures.

Man, you're pretty much the kindest; thank you, thank you.

You'd think with the amount of Brits i've played football with over the years i would have known that, guess i just perpetuated the 'ignorant' American stereotype on that one.
O'well, it happens haha.

You're the best.

Thank you for the watch, and taking the time to read. But I would really not suggest starting with the categories. I haven't organized anything in ages, and the most recent things, those that hurt the least when people see, are not in them. They're in the general gallery.

Again, thank you.

No worries. It seemed like the most logical way of working through, but with your advice, I'll start recent and work my way back.
