Me worrying about my story "losing its charm" or getting stale is something I think about often. Especially because it's getting long/will get longer. It's like a tv series, the more you draw it out, the more meh it gets, and I hope mine doesn't get like that.
Sometimes I'm writing a scene, and I spend days agonizing on whether the scene feels more like a filler than being important to the plot. But I'm really trying to make sure every scene is crucial to the plot, or will be. Like i'm really iffy about me having so many side characters, but I've been making sure their role will progress the story, not delay it.
Aw, I would love a cover/format, or anything really to be honest. Like the other day I saw that really old sketch you made of Volga and Zelda in the masquerade scene and I squeed like a little girl xD I would really like to publish this story too. I've made it a goal.
Hmm, what I have planned without spoiling too much? I have some plans with the foreign royals (another thing which I was hesitant about because I didn't want to spend too much time on them) but I didn't want to have them there just for the sake of driving Volga crazy - though I enjoy that too because I'm a horrible person to him 
There's gonna be a lot of tension and drama building up still, even if things seem all cheery right now. I don't want to give numbers, but I would LIKE to start the HW events at least by Chapter 20 (again don't count on it) but I don't want to rush to it yet because there's still things I want to get out of the way. I want to make the most out of what I can with Volga, and have him become more attached to Hyrule, Zelda (and vice versa), etc as much as I can before everything goes to hell. Cause again, I'm a horrible person. I actually legit feel bad with what I plan to do with him, and I think that's funny. Attachment to imaginary characters all day bby

You know? the way I see it, you only have to "survive" the pre-HW part, then by default you will have your beats mostly set.
The bad part is that the HW writers suck ass, so you will need to make up for them XD
Although... there are many action scenes in HW, how are you going to manage? are you going to make the fights more personal?
I mean, you already have a splendid set with all the Volga-Zelda-Link stuff, so you will have at least me on my toes for what happens next XD

Yeah, I think you are smart for doing that, since you can spend all of your sweet time building character relationships in pre-HW and then just... burn them and have a dog piss on them once HW events strike, you don't have to rush yourself as much to write and flesh out characters in HW, and can focus on establishing the tons of characters HW throws on your way lmao.

Yeah I was thinking that too. With the HW stuff already being "written" it won't be as hard for me write it myself. Except that I'd be filling in gaps that they never mentioned, such as where Zelda had disappeared to in the game when the castle was under siege - and how she coincidentally appeared in ELDIN of all places, in her Sheik disguise. Oh yes, I have so schemes.
HW has a ton of fighting scenes of course, so yeah, I'd likely have to spend more time working on the battles since I still suck majorly at writing that type of stuff. But like, I want to avoid too many repetitive fights. For example, when they fight Gohma in Faron Woods. I'm not gonna go into a fully detailed description of the same fight more than once, since in the game they fight the same things a million times. And yes, certain fights will definitely feel more personal, such as Link, Cia, Dodongo, etc. I want there to be a hopefully good balance of fight scenes, interactions, a little humor now and then, etc.

I can't wait until I write about the clan/Amusei and Jules teasing Volga about sex and marriage - Volga is so fun to tease like wtf. Even the bear slayer foreign royal if you remember him, here's part of an upcoming line of him making fun of him ("…princess rides you with ease. Ever considered getting a saddle? You know, being that you’re the Royal Family’s transportation pet now.” ) Giiiiirl, things gonna get whack with these foreign royals, and more.
I think of all the HW characters I'm looking forward to writing, Wizzro is the one I'm looking forward to the most (so far), which is really weird. He's gonna be such a little conniving douche lmao

Yeah, I remember a chapter that consisted on mostly fighting, right after the masquerade, it is your weakest chapter (BUT STILL GODAMMNED GOOD I SWEAR).
Action just doesn't translate that well into writing, not your fault. Anyway, I think you will be fine, you have already set some solid bases and tensions between characters, I think your readers will actually feel the stakes are high (BECAUSE THEY ARE AAAAAAA) and be engaged on the battle scenes.
Now if you could do us all a favor and add moar Volga fights and scenes than the game originally had it would be amazing *fangirls away*

I can't tell you yeeeeet. A lot of stuff is gonna happen before she even shows up in Eldin, including extra scenes that aren't in HW (I plan on having plenty of additional scenes within HW so there'll be 'new' stuff as well as making the actual HW scenes more meaningful).
Hm I think it might have been my weakest chapter too. Or maybe not the chapter, but the weakest scenes in general so far. I think it's also cause there was so much going on in that chapter, and I had a really hard time balancing the calmer moments with the action ones, though I really did try.
Not yet but I did have a scene that I was gonna use back when Volga brought Zelda to visit Eldin for the first time, Amusei finds the sketch Volga did when he was little and shows it to Zelda before Volga could stop him. Not only was the sketch of a dragon and a princess, but more.
(“Aww,” Zelda cooed, completely enamored with the sketch. “Volga, this is adorable. This is your art cover, right?”
“It is, it is, princess!” said the Lizalfos eagerly. “And those baby Lizalfos are supposed to be you and Master Volga’s children! He should make you his dragon princess soon, so that you two can have lots and lots of babies!”")
I ended up not using it because it was corny, but it was still funny to write, and Volga's reaction after that was even more so. Anyway! I might still do something similar, at the very least bring up the mating thing cause it's something they totally would do.
Speaking of mating, yo, that's something Volga would love to say to the foreign royal lmao. We have lewd dragon puns, let's go. He's supposed to keep their stuff secret, but I'm not sure how much he'll be able to take before telling the foreign royals off his princess. Which is also why the date scene will be amusing. How much self control you gonna have, Volga? Poor thing, I pester him too much.
Wizzro is pretty bland, yeah. I imagine him to be one of those trouble makers, and I like the idea of him and Impa doing pranks back when they were young, especially cause it's something so different from Impa's current character, and then how she changes. And yeah imma shut up now. I gotta get ready for work soon sadly, otherwise I'd be here all day happily chatting

Nah it's not distasteful at all, it's realistic, don't worry. I'll be blunt. Yes, I want them to make love. Whether I go into all the juicy details, or I mention they did (though I'd feel as if I cheated doing that), I want them to have their intimate moment together. The biggie is if it would happen before HW or after. Or both lmao. Though "after" would depend on what I do with Volga's fate, and if he lives, it would likely take quite awhile before they'd get to that point. Cause they'd have to rebuild their trust, heal, etc. But again I might be looking too far ahead cause it depends on how the story progresses.
Another thing is, and I think I may have mentioned this before, but the rating of my story currently with the addition of their intimate scene. Should I just raise it to M and give my readers a warning in advance? Or should I just write the M scene in a separate site, with the link to it for those who want to read the details? And then for those who don't want to read the details, they'd have a portion of the scene skipped for them. Meh I don't know. I'm curious as to whether my readers would want to read through that at all. Would you? It's okay I won't judge lol, I'm the one who's gonna be writing the smut

So you are implying Brolga MIGHT keep on living in your version of HW and that Zelda is definitely going to get the DD.
On one hand I'm really excited because that means my man Volga is going to LIVEEEEE, on the other hand, it deviates a lot from the events in HW...
Y'know let me tell you something, you probably thought about it by now, but I still want to reassure you, If you have to completely change or erase events or entire characters from HW to make your story work, Go for it. If some nerd comes by shrieking "BUT THAAATSSSS NOTTTT CAAAAAANOOOOOOON REEEEEEEEEEEEE" I'm going to fucking stab them I s w e a r.
Because just imagine how cool it would be, some story about a warrior dragon-rider queen who goes on adventures with his dragon-husbando.

But about your story... I'd say it should stay T, it would be a great story for 15+ years old.
It's not like you are going to depict it GOING IN and DRY and DIRTY and they are going to scream profanities to the top of their lungs XD
It's probably just going to be sweet, awkward and tender, like every interaction Volga has with Zelda

If you are only publishing your story on DA and fanfiction.net for the moment, I'd say just toggle on the mature filter on the former, and put an author note on the begining of the later. But separating the sex scenes from the rest of the story? Idk, your pacing its going to feel really weird if you have the story escalate and then no climax (lol) were it should be one, I feel like it is going to hurt your story a bit.
Another option is cutting your story abruptly before the steamy stuff begins and just put this in:

It's a big MIGHT, so don't even expect it for sure (as far as Volga living and/or mature scenery). And eh, even if he lives, it wouldn't deviate that much from HW because HW never clearly stated that he died. It just shows him falling over in defeat by Link. He might have sustained a horrible wound for all I know. In any case, don't expect anything yet cause nothing is decided by then. Anything can happen!
Oh I'd definitely need to change a lot of stuff when I transition my fic to story. Like about the Triforce for instance. Unless you meant decanoning my fic from HW to make my fic work, then yeah, if I feel that it's important, I will, but overall I plan to keep the events happen as they do (again with my additional scenes, fights, etc added).

When I say I considered separating a steamy scene from the story (for the T version) I don't mean that the entire chapter is going to be just sex. There should be plenty of other non mature scenes in the same chapter that shouldn't deviate too much from the story, and I'm pretty sure even a 15 year old will understand the concept of 'yes they screwed, this is just a tamer writing version of it'. And whoever is reading the tame version has the option to read the more detailed version of that scene if they really want, on a link I'd add separately. Argh I'm probably confusing you.
Point is, we'll see what happens by that point. It's not like having a mature scene is absolutely necessary (no let me shut up, yes it is, jk but not jk) It'll depend on how the flow of the story is going, and whatnot. This is also good practice for me now so I can decide what I want to do on the original story someday. I've heard of books who have a child and adult friendly version, so hm.

About decanonizing your fic from HW, I have a really hard time thinking how are you going to cram all of the plain, 2D filler characters it has, like... Agitha, she doesn't do anything aside running behind butterflies XD So it wouldn't surprise me to see you outright cutting characters or complete events, since, you know, characters with so little participation like Agitha wouldn't translate well into an original story...

Althought, I don't think I would read a more explicit version, I'd prefer the one that fits better into the story, which I'm going to bet is the tamer one, maybe? Just something that makes me go "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! YESYESYESYESYESYESYEEEEESSSS"
Me as a reader, the only reason I want Volga and Zelda to score is because shit's going to hit the fan and I thought the poor man would die without enjoying the pleasures of the flesh XD

Girl tell me about it! I love speculating too, I can do it all day xD sometimes it ends up slowing my writing progress down, but I'd rather overthink about each option than not having considered it at all. Most of the time.
Honestly I don't plan to put a whole lot of screen time into chars like Agitha and Ruto. They're side characters that are there to help or interrupt the main characters/move the story along. But yes, I will still try to do a little magic if I can ;o and the original story likely won't have all the HW characters cause there's way too many damn characters already.
As for your comic - yeah lol. I feel like pron is one of those things that is probably better by itself, rather than trying to make a story out of it (unless it's really friggin well done). With a romance story, the mature scene (s) tend to be more "special" and less of a... "let's screw cause why not" thing. So addressing the last point you made really quick about focusing on emotions rather than actions - that's romance, or at least to me it is. I'm better at writing emotions than actions anyway, so I can say, should their sweet moment happen, it'll certainly reflect that.
There's all kinds of things to consider from that too. Again, if they do it before HW or after HW can impact them in some way. Think about it. If they made love before HW, imagine how much more dramatic it'd be for them, once Volga turns traitor? Zelda had put her complete trust in him, mind and body - and he eventually becomes a killing machine for the villains. And then Volga of course, would also suffer from the harm he's causing, all the relationships and friendships he built being torn way from him, because he's trapped in his own mind, and unable to do anything yet to save himself. This some dark stuff, fam.
If they made love after HW, that would not only indicate that he survives, but that they had gone through one hell of a healing together to be able to get to that point of trust again. It's still doable, of course, and it can still be just as much of an impact if I had gone with the other option.
Then there's other little things too like, pregnancy and if it's even feasible (though the idea of a little half human, half dragon boy and girl is cute af) and any hesitation either Zelda or Volga might have at first. There's just soooo much to think about omg, and believe me, I've thought over most of these a ton.
I don't remember the last time I wrote a smut scene, must have been years, and it was for an absolutely horrendous roleplaying/private fic thing. Well the smut itself wasn't bad, but the story was cringe and I want to forget its existence.
Oh! Yeah I would definitely put a mature filter on DA and/or FF.net if my wording got mature, even if it was tamely done.

Girl hold on a second, IMO it would be cool if they did it before the events on HW, I feel it would add complexity to Cia's relationship with Zelda, since she is destined to be close with Cia's crush, and Cia has Zelda's uh... boyfriend? (will they formalize their relationship?) under her mind-control powers.
My point is, remember Cia's double entendre comments she made to Volga? Zelda would be pretty hurt by those, and I can totally see Cia exploiting that, even if she didn't do anything with him.
At least your Zelda's reaction would be something more than "wtf is wrong with dis bitch why does she want link so bad omg"
I feel that, as you said, both options are good, and have the same potential for dramatical impact, but I'd love to see Cia's raw display of bitchiness on the first one HAHAHA!

It was fucking horrible and cringy too. It was about a girl falling from the sky and a knight that found her and shit, and for some weird reason they were madly in love despite knowing each other for 2 days tops.

Pretty much. We'll just have to see by then. I will still try to give the side characters an intro-ish, but they won't be the focus. I'd be more likely to spend a little more time on characters like Ghirahim than Darunia anyway. They need to entertain Cia, after all, heh.
I too love the idea of a dragon king. Volga and Zelda are going to be so involved with doing things for the kingdom anyway, so it's like a mini glimpse at what it could be like if he were ever to rule. Going from feared to respected then to feared/hated (after his mind is taken over). If he's even alive by then, he'd have to do a ton of work to regain trust with Hyrule, and even that will seem impossible.
And hey, if they can't get approval for marriage, they can just marry in the Lizalfos way - which would be the opposite of a typical human marriage; mating before marriage. Cause the reptilians don't really give a flip about the marriage stuff as much, they'd go by animal instinct to breed. I mean sure, they'll still feel dutiful to their partners but their system isn't as complicated as humans are. So more mating jokes from the reptilians could throw at Volga if they do xD
If Cia bothered to realize she could just leave them alone, then she'd have Link all to herself. She's not aware yet of VolgaxZelda stuff. Also, which double entendre comments? I probably already know, but my mind blanked out. But yeah, if/when Cia finds out that they're lovers, she'd definitely have more tools at her disposal to mess with their heads, whether by magic or not. Her being a bitch is already established
I could see half breeds being sterile. But then, how else would they have kept their line going? If we are to assume Volga might have had more half breeds in his ancestry that is. Dragons in general are already kinda extinct, let alone of the dragonmen kind. I thiiiiiiink it was on the Skyward level, when you fight Volga.

I just began yesterday after like... a year of thinking a story and getting frustrated after 4 drafts for the first chapters kek.
So far so good but I only went on writing like 20 minutes before falling asleep, Just managed to get to the general details of the story and the storyline of the main character.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Volga would be so mentally exhausted by post HW, and discouraged with himself, that he'd try to distance himself from everything for awhile. Everyone is kinda traumatized. I'd go as far as to say certain people would even want him executed, which... I could see him actually accepting his fate/surrendering. Zelda is going to have her work cut out for her in midst of her own healing process, between people wanting 'justice', her feelings for him, and what she believes to be right or wrong. And more. Again, just speculating possibilities and stuff.
If Volga asked the king for Zelda's hand, then what would the king say? Heh, I can't tell youuuuu, but imma say this. Things are gonna get hella tense. Whether the king says yes or no will still put Volga in a dangerous position. The foreign royals have power with the council, and they (especially a certain bear slayer) won't be too happy if such a marriage arrangement was made. I never heard of this Snowball Method. I skimmed over it a bit, and I guess I can see it being useful for some writers - have you found it useful to you, or more confusing? It's alright, one of the hardest parts about writing a story is starting it. But after the first chapter, things tend to be easier for awhile. Anything in particular you're struggling with, or you just having a writer's block? I do recommend though, while you're inspired, always write. Because when your inspiration goes away, it's much harder to, and feels forced/may not be as fun for you.

Hah, it's kind of embarrasing... (I always have a hard time being open about my characters for some reason), He had this author pet syndrome (because he was our little boi), where he would always be a huge douche bag and never be punished for it, and he would still be respected among his peers even thought he was an unlikable lazy bastard. Also he was a half demon (althought it was common in the story context, but still gathers a few extra edge points

I find it really helpful tbh, my personality doesn't help because I tend to ramble and not focus what I'm saying but still want to convey complex ideas.
So the method I've been using so far (thinking about your story, setting a framework, decide the beats, write and ramble, edit later) hasn't work for me because I can't really focus the story, or there are inconsistences, or both.
So that method of starting wide and narrowing it down in each step is really helpful for me, it helps me to focus and not ramble to much, while setting a nice overlay to fish for inconsistences.
Getting inspired is pretty shitty for me though XD
When I get inspired to "write" (aka tell a story), I actually want to draw sequences or some frame of a cool scene.
What I usually do (when I'm on schedule) is write 2 hours a day and hope for the best, but I feel the snowflake method will do wonders for me, at least on the first steps because it's just filling blanks (describe the conflicts 1,2 and 3 from your story? how does it wrap up? etc...)
So yeah... it basically helps me to set a harder framework for my ramblings than just defining the beats as I was doing it.
Maybe my old method was super wrong and that is the reason I didn't feel comfy though XD

His character development was just interesting to me, and was more than any development they've ever done for chars like Link in comparison.
It's gonna feel impossible, but don't count it out. You're right though, even if they somehow made it through everything/were together again, things won't feel the same anymore. Imagine ruling or being back in the castle where you slaughtered and burned. I could see Volga having a harder time forgiving himself than getting Zelda/Hyrule to forgive him. You had bias for your half demon character, nah it's cool, I can relate. Speaking of half demon, I remember you once mentioning, or making an artwork of a character from some kind of witch x demon thing. I couldn't help but be reminded me of it, whenever Cia ad Ganondorf are being snarky to each other.
Rambling tends to scatter the thoughts/ideas when it comes to trying to write a story, so it's understandable if it'd get too distracting. It's good to be able to have some degree of organization when trying to outline your story. I'd say my method is a combination of organization and messiness. I have an outline, but I also have a million notes separately (they're like having sticky notes with a ton of info on them). Cause I have a bad memory, so this helps me not forget my ideas/plans. Sometimes if you think about a particular idea, or even like one line of dialogue, write it down somewhere so you don't forget!
Anyway i'm glad the Snowball thing is working out for you, and I hope things get easier for you from here with your story. Also it doesn't have to be "3 conflicts" I think they just recommend that as a base to get something for you to start with. Or maybe you really do want to only have 3 major conflicts in your story, that's cool too. At least the character pages are easier to write than the story planning page, though they all relate.

Gah, I tried something like your method while I was world building and it really helped me to set the world, but it didn't help my rambling problem for the writting itself, since I just made tons of drafts and lots of notes and scribbles on my documents, I DID get a lot of nice ideas that I'm going to reuse on the snowflake version of the story thought, so it's not like I lost a lot of time to acomplish nothing.
Oh yah, I'm aware of that, besides, I'm going to adapt it into a comic since visual mediums are my forte, so I'd like it to be a short story. Althought I THINK I will stick with the 4 acts since I have 4 main characters, 2 of them (the antagonists) are a couple and their story is so close I think I can do it in one arc for the two of them.
So it would go like this: one arc for the main character, another for the other main character, the third for the villains, and the last for wraping up, so they can have their character arcs without tangling too much, because I don't think I can handle a complex story with lots and lots of overarching plots. Baby steps, hah!
Ahhh... I just hope I can finish this story, and it doesn't give me an aneurysm from how cringy it is, I mean, I know it WILL suck major ass, it's the first comic I'ill write, but I hope I can make something at least mildly endearing on it's own weird way... you know? something that doesn't make you want to kill yourself when you read it.

Nah, SS Zelda definitely had more character than SS Link (and all Links thus far). She was just weird because she had memories of Hylia with her, so she's like half herself, half Hylia at times. Still more interesting than Link ever was. Yeah, BotW Link's most visible emotion was shyness from when he dressed as a girl. He didn't bat an eyelash when BotW Zelda told him some personal stuff (all the more reason I can never ship those two in any game, their chemistry is ass).
Exactly, even if Volga could actually manage to rule in the end, it wouldn't be without a million problems he'd have to deal with the public and the other kingdoms. Man, he can never catch a break. I do however, have some possible ideas/plans in mind (if he were to survive) and how he'd go about helping "fix" things. But it's like trying to make a scar disappear - you can try to help make it fade or seem smaller, but it never truly goes away. So yes, even if they have a happy ending, it'll be a bittersweet one, which I think is more realistic.

Mhm I still have more time to work on Link and Lana, since they haven't really had that many scenes so far anyway. I sort of like the idea of Link being more of an opposite to Volga's personality; more carefree and not as proud. He's just a guy living in a village of tree tops, so a more simplified lifestyle in comparison to Volga and Zelda's more pressuring ones. And I mentioned that he doesn't enjoy fighting, though he's good at it, and he'll fight if he thinks it's necessary. I also like to imagine him being a complete idiot when it comes to stuff like royal courtesies, which will also contrast to Volga's years of studying on it. I guess Link being more light-hearted in general is where I'd be getting at. But I could see more of his "innocence" drying out as HW events happen, since he'll be slaying hordes of monsters like crazy, and he even starts getting cocky at some point in HW after he sees how busted the Master Sword is.
As for Lana, she's even harder to write well than Link, since she's meant to be the "good" side so it's really annoying to do that without making her seem like a complete Mary Sue. But I like to think that even though she's the good one, her memories of her jealousy, bitterness at her parents leaving her, etc didn't go anywhere, so a part of her would still reflect on that. When she starts seeing more of Cia, she's actually seeing more of what she, Lana, would have been like, if she had followed a darker path.
I'd love to see your comic sometime, if you end up developing it into one. Or if you want me to proof-read over a couple of things for you before you do it, or when you're done with the whole thing, whichever

I don't know, I found SS Zelda to be Waifu material (she was so pretty on that game <3) but I could never get into her, maybe it was because the plot was some sort of literary uncanny valley. It was a tad more complex than the other's Zelda's that just go "defeat the evil, lulz!!!" and Link had a really personal motivations that wasn't helping a kidnapped family member. I think my problem comes from it attempting to be SO dramatic at times, yet not making us care so much about the characters, so on those dramatic points I just went "I know I should feel something here, but I'm not feeling anything bruh", and well, Zelda was in all those scenes. Gah, I don't hate the characters, I guess I just don't like SS in general XD
And yeah, Link's and Zelda's chemistry is ass, It kinda makes me sad that the game implies Zelda is kinda into Link in BOTW, she deserves something better, but I'm also tired of Nintendo teasing us with that fucking ship for like what... 32 years now? and the most we ever had was a kiss on the cheek? Well, I love your ideas for Link! they also aren't far away from the canon character since SS implied Link to be some kind of lazy, easy going dude (Why was he even training to become a knight again?) and he is more or less the same on other games except TP, where he is supposed to be very hard-working and yet has the most stupid job on all the village: herding animals on a tight closed space.
But for real I wouldn't blame Link for being cocky after getting the mastersword, that shit IS overpowered as fuck in HW.

SS Zelda was cute, but her nose bothered me a little. In BotW she doesn't even really have a nose lmao. I think SS did better with the characters though than most of the other titles. They may not have had many characters, but idk. Link was also a little more expressive too (which is saying something cause this is Link), and I liked Impa's bitchiness with him, and Ghirahim's sass, etc
Oh I don't even consider myself being teased anymore on ZeLink cause I've given up on liking that ship after the first LoZ game I played. I don't mind them being friends or like siblings, but romantic wise, I just can't.
