I have for awhile thought in try create an journal and collect most basic things on how things work here in DeviantART.
I know it is not always easy to know how things work when we firs open a account in a new site.

if you don't know, you can reply to comments by clicking the "reply" button in your notifications.
"sta.sh" is a storage place where you can keep characters, un-posted art, and other things!! all you have to do is hover over the "submit" bar at the very top of your screen
-OR-
you can type in your search bar "sta.sh" and you will be sent to your sta.sh account
sta.sh comes with DA! so don't worry about making an account!
sta.sh is also very private, unless you stream the area, no one can be linked or even go to your sta.sh.
you can, of course, link things you've posted in your sta.sh to others by clicking on the things you've posted in sta.sh

you can get icons by downloading a f2u icon, or make your own! icons are 50x50 so keep that in mind.
but before downloading an icon, make damn sure you can use it. otherwise it's stealing.
if it's just lineart, read the description. it might not be a base, it could be a ych.
YCH = "your character here"
YCHs are never free. they can cost points, paypal, or any other currency.
