You might get some use out of this, then? Here's the background with text removed cropped to 1024x1024. The settings for your device might let you use this as the background in a way that works for both landscape and portrait.

Sure- Allegrezza seems to be one of the worst offenders. Upon closer inspection, it seems that a lot of the difficulty is coming from "attibute 'version' is not declared for element 'html.'"

Is there any chance you're working from old files? I've spent some time going through all the source files for the ebooks and they all validate, as do the epubs themselves. However, s long time ago, last year sometime, I went through every ebook and updated its HTML to ensure it's standards-compliant; they all have the attribute 'version' declared now, but they didn't before that. Could you go grab a fresh copy of one of the ones giving you trouble off the Downloads page, and see if it gives you the same errors?

I have to say, I'm not sure what FlightCrew's expecting. 'version' is indeed declared for 'html' in every chapter; I verified by unpacking the epub manually and examining the files.

I'll be curious to see if the epub opens on your nook now, though.

So I spent the last two days going through all the ebooks. Each source HTML file has been validated as XHTML 1.1, and each epub has been validated using epubcheck. I've reuploaded known good copies to the Downloads page, so if you're still seeing any funny business, grab a fresh copy and give that a shot... and if that still doesn't work right, let me know!
