Do you think it would be within your capabilities to make a Halo 4 pistol with a removable magazine?

i honestly don't have the time to take on a commission like that right now sorry. i am kind of rolling out props off of a personal list for the foreseeable future, but if you are a god of war fan you might want to check back in a bit.

Is there ANY way I can commission a Scarecrow costume from you? My brother and I are doing a Arkham Asylum for Halloween and he really wants a good Batman based Scarecrow outfit and I saw yours (he did as well) and it's amazing so I couldn't help, but ask for his sake.

I noticed you work with clay on some of your projects. I use clay for structure on masks, but am having a tough time. I've been using Crayola Air-Dry, but it cracks and I have to papermache it one while it's wet, which can be a huge hassle. I was wondering if you knew of any clay that doesn't crack when it dries but still keeps it's form.

RabbitMeatVendor In reply to HaloDemon [2011-07-04 01:09:27 +0000 UTC]
so are you using the clay as the finished mask? usually when i use clay i make a mold of my sculpture and then do a latex casting. i rarely use clay as my final piece, but i have used polymer clays such as super sculpey with success but you must bake it for it to get hard. I've also made a mask from model magic but it was not easy to work with and it shrinks quite a bit when its drying. there is a product called paper clay. you mix it with water like paper mache. you can do it in thin layers to make a rough sculpture then go back with a rotary tool like a dremmel and do the detail work once it has hardened. i hope this helps. while im sculpting with water based clay i always cover my sculpture with damp paper towels and then a garbage bag when im not working on it. this keeps the clay damp

haha! It's funny because I could of sworn I ran into your DA page before! Anyway, we totally need to get together for a shoot sometime. It was tough at Tekko because I was with a group of friends who were new to the whole con experience and we had a pretty tight schedule.
Can't wait until Otakon though, last time there was a huge Fallout group there so I'm guessing this year will be bigger because of New Vegas.

I've been looking through your work, and you have some very impressive skill with theatrical craft. I'm curious, have you done makeup effects for a Glasgow smile? Most notably seen on heath ledgers joker. I made some prosthetic scars a few Halloweens ago out of liquid latex and shreds of paper towel. they turned out okay, but not fantastic.
i was wondering if you had any insight on how best to go about it?

its a great website that has a variety of make up techniques. id recommend either gelatin or foamed gelatin. you could free from them on ur face just be careful as i can get really hot. he lists all the precautions.

hey
this year we're doing an Arkham Asylum theme at the house i live in with my roommates. i was thinking of being the Joker, but i was completely taken and inspired by your Scarecrow costume. i want to somewhat replicate it, and was hoping you could help me out by just giving me a bit of detail on how it was made or from what fabric.
one of the questions that is really bothering me is how did you actually see with bright led bulbs on your eyes?
π: 0 β©: 1
RabbitMeatVendor In reply to AspiringToBeAMonster [2010-09-16 03:39:19 +0000 UTC]
well thanks. ill answer ur burning question first. the way i could see is that i didn't actually look through the eyes. if you look at this picture u can see were i actually saw from. [link] . the actual eyes had tinfoil on the back of them which helped reflect more light and make them brighter and also made it so light didn't leak back into my mask and blind me. that being said its still not a super easy to see out of and i have almost no peripheral vision. as for materials, the pants and shirt were just clearance isle fabrics that had colors and textures i liked. i made them as complete garments first then went back and cut out sections and sewed them back in. then used black spray paint to add a burned look. i used the reaaly cheap black because i wanted the horrible coverage. the hat is felt with a cheap straw hat base that i completely covered. hope this helps. also look at the descriptions and comments for the other scarecrow pics i have posted. there are more questions answered there.
good luck
pics or it didn't happen

first off, thanks for writing back; i very much appreciate it
i did look over each comment and such, and it was a lot of help as well.
secondly, as i looked over your mask, i kept trying to find a mask that would somewhat resemble it or fit into the costume. unfortunately, i came out empty handed; i couldn't not find any.
i admire your creativity and work, and i was hoping if you would be willing to create a Scarecrow mask for me? i would, of course, pay for it.

thanks for the devwatch and all the faves! unfortunately i really cannot take any commissions right now. i have no time. here is a mask made by a company i used to work for. [link] i don't know if it will work for you but its a suggestion. you might also look up just general ghoul or skull masks and make your own burlap cowl. this one is pretty cool. [link]
if you wanted to customize a latex mask you can add detailsone by adding cotton dipped in liquid latex. look up cotton and latex zombie make up techniques. you can translate the idea to either add details to an existing mask or even make your own reusable mask right on your face. if u are adding to a mask make sure you clean it with rubbing alcohol first.
thanks again and im sorry i cant help more. also if you are interested in repainting a latex mask. you can buy a bottle of raw latex from a Halloween store. (probably around $15 ) and mix the latex into acrylic paint at a 50/50 paint latex ratio. the paint will bond to the mask and not crack off. mix your paint color first then add the latex as it will look creamy until it dries once latex is added. also clean the mask thoroughly with rubbing alcohol before painting. i hope this is coherent im writing it after a long day. feel free to ask me anything else and good luck

you well deserved the dev watch and favourites, your work is truly amazing.
i completely understand if you can't take any commissions at the moment. thank you still for adding all the extra and helping me out.
as well as thanks for adding the links. i've been looking all over the internet for some masks, and i think i'm going to go with the second link you added.
don't worry, it was all very coherent and helpful. i have another question, if you don't mind. it's not a "huge" question, but the testing tubes you used, about what size are they? i'm just trying to make it look as much as possible as yours because i think it's perfect how you made it.

RabbitMeatVendor In reply to AspiringToBeAMonster [2010-09-18 06:16:05 +0000 UTC]
the test tubes were baby medicine spoons from walmart with the spoon parts cut off.
