Hello Girl. Time to have the AC checked and start to brace for the heat coming soon, but for now I'm enjoying the cool. I got weeds to kill some morning before the wind kicks back up in the afternoon.

I love how incredibly repulsed Piranha seems to feel in Rayian's picture, like he can barely endure himself.Β  Gets the feeling across so well.

I just wanted to pass by and say (even though I think I mentioned it before...?) That your fantastic fic Piranha has motivated me to start my own fic. Your incredible way of conveying atmosphere, emotion and immersion really brings your worlds to life! Ice chips in the bra sounds like a fantastic idea except that I'd be drenched in five minutes and hot again three minutes after that ... why, is there a power failure somewhere?Β  Hope you're staying cool where you are!

tea In reply to Rayfan [2018-07-11 02:37:39 +0000 UTC]

parts of LA had lost power. They had put out a heat warning. So put those chips in a baggie, unless the dripping is keeping you extra cool.Β

Aa I see, my bad. That probably was a good move for you. Less fire hazard but more snakes and occasional large dust storms.Β
So now that your out of Cal. Doesn't it seem like Cal is on fire most of the time!Β
What do you think or your newer home?Β

Rayfan In reply to tea [2018-07-13 06:27:00 +0000 UTC]

It's very pleasant here in the spring, fall, and winter.Β  Unadulterated hell in the summer.Β  They get fires here too, and floods, but at least the whole state isn't on fire.Β  Cost of living is cheaper, which is the only reason I moved.Β  Even though I live a big city and it seems mostly civilized, I still miss dirty old LA.Β  Still, all in all, I guess it's about a fair trade.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tea In reply to Rayfan [2018-07-15 02:59:19 +0000 UTC]

Yes I miss dirty old LA sometimes too. Cal in general has gotten to expensive to live in. Ok at least the coastal cities have priced them self's for exiting and I'm not big on their desert cities.
I'm glad you are selling in and can afford to feed your mouth. I find that very rewarding to do. Just think it monsoon season too. No driving in flash flood water though.Β  Β  Β

Rayfan In reply to tea [2018-07-15 05:30:28 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I prefer being able to eat too.Β  Funny that I've seen more rain since I moved to Arizona than I saw in all the years I lived in LA.Β  I will definitely do my best to avoid flash floods!Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tea In reply to Rayfan [2018-07-19 05:09:51 +0000 UTC]

That's right, it never rains in southern Cal. according to the beachboys.
Will it's in the 112+ in the Las Vegas area and my sister called wanting me to go out for a bite to eat. But it's a dry heat here, so I suggest Sweet Tomato's sometime after it cool's off, say in January.Β  She laughed and we just left is open for some other unknown time.
So do avoid any flash floods because it's good having you hang around dA.Β  Β

Rayfan In reply to tea [2018-07-19 08:23:51 +0000 UTC]

I don't miss Las Vegas at all.Β  But when it comes to desert, even if we get a bit more rain, we beat you in temperature - it gets up into the 120s here.Β  I plan to spend the entire month of August in my apartment.Β  Hopefully we'll both be freed by January.

Actually, the only flash flood I've ever experienced was when I lived in Las Vegas.Β  So you watch out too!

I'm glad you're still hanging around DA as well.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tea In reply to Rayfan [2018-07-20 17:48:46 +0000 UTC]

Las Vegas yeah no state income tax here. Flash floods are more controlled these days and one would have to actually drive into one to experience being swiped away. I do mess the yearly news reports of someone floating their Cadillac under the Charleston underpass. Will that is progress. So much for looking forward to anything in July. Now August is the main reason people stopped trying to cool their houses with swamp coolers. Spending hundreds more a month on AC is worth not having the place smell like a fish monger waft and still be to hot to support intelligent life.Β  Ok so July and August are not suited to human life here is the western deserts of USA. But my desert is one of the harshest in the world and your is just to wet.Β  Β

Rayfan In reply to tea [2018-07-20 23:17:35 +0000 UTC]

Heheh, yes, this is a weirdly wet desert, with "monsoons," farms, and a bunch of lakeside housing developments scattered around Phoenix. I'm amazed the water doesn't all boil away.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tea In reply to Rayfan [2018-07-22 05:36:47 +0000 UTC]

The Vegas monsoon has just about blown it self out and soon to be replaced with record Hotness. Of course it is a dry heat, weather people make it sound like that is a good thing when it over 110 F. I'll have to pick up some bottle water just to drive across town in a AC car. What can I say, anything over 110 is bad, ugly, and disagreeable. A cold shower or bath would help, but the cold water coming out the shower is no longer cold or even cool. A lot of good driver turn into bad drivers in that kind of heat and lets not talk about dry mouth. I know lets call it cellphone mumble mouth season.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rayfan In reply to tea [2018-07-22 16:22:00 +0000 UTC]

I guess dry heat is a *little* better than humid heat of the same temperature, but I agree, after about 110 degrees nothing is very tolerable and every degree above that makes it a lot less tolerable.Β  We don't have any such thing as cold tap water either, for all the summer months.Β  Often the hot water is cooler than the cold until it's run for quite a while!Β  (I don't quite get that.)Β  I have insulated stainless steel water flasks now that I carry around everywhere when I go outside, filled with refrigerated water.Β  (No AC in car unfortunately.)Β  And I wear a "Frogg toggs" scarf, which helps some.Β  Still can't go out to stores for more than a couple of hours on my weekly food rounds, before I start to get too unfocused to drive.Β  But it seems like summers are getting unbearable pretty much everywhere now.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tea In reply to Rayfan [2018-07-23 05:58:51 +0000 UTC]

I quite buying bottle water last year and don't miss them at all.Β
My frig has a water dispenser and I keep the filter changed and up to date.
I also have water flasks that fit car cup holders. I should run them through the dishwasher before using them.
No AC in the car ugh! With Vegas being a 24 hour town I can go get food early in the morning.
Or late at night. Though it really never cools off, maybe high 80s or low 90s .
Besides the AC doesn't start cooling the car until I get home if it out in the sun for and length of time.Β Β
I keep telling the cat that I will give him a dollar if he would make the run for me but with no luck.
