We never spoke. Even so, I thought I'd leave my thoughts on your passing. Particularly on these people you were unfortunate enough to call friends.
I never knew you. Not until I was incensed as I read "Red no longer identified as male, but since I knew Red as a man much longer than otherwise, I will use masculine pronouns when referring to him."Β Are you aware these fools think they're honoring you? By misgendering you, even in death? By committing an act of violence against you? These were Kigai-Holt's own words: "Red was our dear friend, and a very close friend to Lazywolf. She was ok with us referring to her as a him in the context of our group.Β "
Now, it is possible I don't know the dynamics of your group and that this was a big misunderstanding, but blocking me then CONTINUING to argue with me over notes like a coward after we'd both agreed not to speak on the subject anymore, then HIDING COMMENTS from myself and anyone who agreed with me speaks more of silencing than disagreeing.
I'm sorry you're gone. Even more so that your friends can't even honor your choice to live as a woman. Even more that they're prioritizingΒ their comfortability over your own, EVEN as you sleep. Admittedly, this cowardly note I received speaks a lot more of ignorance than actual malevolence. I understand not wanting conflict in the midst of mourning, but I believe being PROPERLY honored is worth fighting over.
Since it can't be found amongst, Lazywolf, and the rest of your friends, I hope your family can at least honor you and allow your soul to rest as a woman. A lot of you don't even get to have THAT, as was the case with Leelah Alcorn. Rest knowing that the world is getting better for your people. That affronts like this from people like Lazywolf and Kigai-Holt will not be tolerated and eventually cease to be one day.
