That's amazing! I too am a Hazel cosplayer, actually and a method actor, so I've been acting as him since about mid-November XD you're lucky to have a Gat cosplayer, though, I just have a Sanzo cosplayer with me.

I think I've seen your skits while searching for Gat/Hazel AMVs (of which there are barely any and none that I've seen that are good) actually. You're probably the most efficient Hazel cosplayer I've seen. Also, I was just stalking you...er...looking through your gallery and looking at your cosplays. They're awesome.

I'm flattered! I was just tickled to be able to do Hazel (my favorite Saiyuki character) and running about with my Ukoku at AX was just amazing.

It was actually nothing less of a miracle I got to do him (I highly cherish the costume, as my Sanzo gave it to me). Getting to be obnoxious when people didn't ask me for pictures was definitely fun.
Also, I learned why Hazel flocks to body's of water, because it SO UNBEARABLY HOT in that costume during the 90 degree weather of California that EVERY water fountain we stopped at, I needed to drink or splash my face.
I found also a lot of people would ask me to step out of pictures with my Saiyuki group, not realizing I'm part of the same series.
His accent is definitely fun. I was pretty consistent with it, though I did get teased by my friends with relatives from the South who claimed my accent didn't have enough drawl.

XD I'll probably be dying in Baltimore for Otakon because both of my costumes are unbearbly hot. I'm going as Hazel, but my friend wants me to escort her to a Gothic Lolita teaparty on the Saturday and they require either Lolita or Elegant Gothic Aristocratic clothing for entry, so I told her I'd dress as Dr. Valicier from The Princess and The Frog for the tea party, it will pain me to forsake my Hazel costume even for an hour, but I have Hazel's hair-cut and color and am white with blue eyes, so she and I reasoned I will still be Hazel, just cosplaying as Valicier and it's only for the tea party.

While I have unwavering love for Hazel, I cosplay from other series as well, and I don't feel like it's betraying his costume or anything.
Actually my Gat hates wearing their Gat outfit, due to it being extremely painful and hot. The wig they use is very heavy on their head, also, and needs a lot of managing.
I highly suggest wearing your hat for Hazel at all times, but I won't need to tell you, shade is always good.

Thankfully both cosplays have nice shady hats. I have a thing for hats. I'm trying to get a full group cosplay together for Saiyuki and we're gonna do random musical numbers throughout the whole convention.
