Nie im Leben.  This is because your native language has no genders. In Russian, all nouns have gender declension forms. And verbs. And adjectives, of course.  And participles, too... So, it's sort of a common thing to me.

You're almost certainly right. When I first encountered genders in French my reaction was, 'HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE THEY ARE NOT PEOPLE THEY'RE WORDS I CANNOT TAKE THIS *brain explodes*' or stuff to that effect. But if you grow up with them, I guess it's the most normal thing ever.  When you deal with English, do you think 'where are all the genders?!!?' or does it seem normal? Is it easier having none?

Of course no! Genderlessness is absolutely cool, I exhale with relief every time I speak English or Japanese. German genders are slightly uncomfortable - all those 'der die das', but Spanish ones seem surprisingly natural. *sings* Por las noches, cara sucia del angelito con bluyín... What irritates me in English are phrase verbs ('come on, come up, come over, WHY COULDN'T THEY JUST USE NORMAL VERBS??') and tenses ('this have been before that and long before that, so here I should use Past Perfect Continous'. I have this timey-wimey in my head every time I compose a complex sentence).

Well, to me that feels like the most natural thing ever... but looking at it now, it's a really random quirk of English. Among our many other random quirks. Like knowing when to use 'less' instead of 'fewer' and 'were' instead of 'was'... *sigh*

That's why I'll never stop feel envious to you. Even if my language will ever be as sharpened as a razor and no one'll be able to figure out I am speaking a foreign language, I will.
'Were' is for plural and 'you', I guess? I thought it was easy O_o

Well, everyone has that problem if they speak a foreign language. My French teacher has always said that no matter how bad you feel about your language skills, as long as you get your meaning across, there's no need to worry.
Normally, yeah, but it gets more complicated. I mean the... is it conditional? (I'm terrible at these names.) For example, 'If only that were possible.' 'If I were you.' Never, 'If I was you.' But I think it's only for hypothetical sentences. So, 'I was going to town to buy apples,' is correct, but it changes if you say, 'If I were going to town, I would buy apples.' And I'm terrible at remembering this. :/

I've had an idea for a drawing for a while for Karliah and my sneaky sneak sneak Dunmer Sora based off of a film poster! - but I've had no time to draw it as I've been quite busy as of late... and now my scanner has gone and broke!

I have some spare time this weekend hopefully so I might try and at least do a rough sketch if I'm not colouring my Dark Angel drawing!
