I have one question. Is there anyone besides yourself judging whether the art pieces submitted are entered into the group or not?
I ask because art is very subjective. An example would be a recent art show I visited, out of all 7 judges not a one could agree on anything. Also nobody is and expert in any category, so you might favor one category and ignore the talent and level of difficulty in another. So in most groups I have seen that they have the equivalent of a panel of judges, each casting votes to see if the piece is entered. I was just wondering if your group had the same.

unfortunately, its just me at the moment.
I have studied photography, traditional art and digital for around 4 years. I agree art is subjective, however I believe it is the concept that is subjective. The quality is a completely different area.

Alright one more question. how well versed are you in digital? I mean no insult here I just want to know. Over the years as I have grown in my digital art ability I have found that most people don't understand the level of difficulty and complexity of most digital art pieces. It is one of the few things that I have come to despise. So I ask this to know how exactly you grade the digital pieces, as I am a digital artist for the most part.

I guess resolution should be miminum 270-300dpi. I don't care about the size. If the piece is created with pixels it has to be high res obviously so it isn't pixelated. I guess there are so many ways of creating a piece digitally, I am mainly a photo-manipulater. I look at the edges of the elements in the piece to see if it is a copy paste job the edges have been refined, feathered and smoothed appropriately. I have a pretty good understanding of layers and masks. I have tried doing a digital piece from a sketch of mine, I think the final was around 700mb? in the end with a LOT of layers from manually doing highlights and shadows, midtones, locally editing colours that need more or less vibrance. I actually gave up in the end because it was too much and I simply didn't have the time.
I guess quality wise, I view digital artwork and digital photography as very similar. Because they are both created with very similar programs. The only different is they originate from different medias.
Traditional I look at the reproduction process. The artwork could be amazing in real life, but if you have light flare, reflection or uneven lighting it isn't good enough as a digital reproduction.
