During the day, I am a medicine student. The rest of the time, I like to design book covers, write and do some art. I also love reading, and gaming, though I never seem to have enough time to do all of those things...My favourite genres are Fantasy and Historical Fiction, with a good amount of romance in each. I make up stories all the time, and sometimes I draw what happens in my head.

(Honestly I wish I had more time to art because I have so much to learn and I can never find enough time to practice anything. First time I've drawn a realistic face seemed to go well though... with reference xD)

Ah okay then *wipes brow* All the same, I didn't want to make you think that I was this crazy nutcase. So hello back~!
As for the more time to draw, I started doodling, and learning how to draw a canary- I really want to create my own book cover for when my newest creation The Canary's Song is finally written out. So writing everything down has been difficult- well writing the first chapter has been a hassle.

Yeah, it took me ages before I liked my art well enough to use it as a book cover. Seriously, years lol. Especially since I don't study anything even closely related to art, so all of it has to happen in my free time (as well as the writing! And the sewing!) It helps if you scan your pictures, and if you get some photomanipulation software (GIMP is free, by the way). And a little tip for books covers: fonts are just as important as the cover image! An ugly font can ruin a gorgeous image.
And good luck with the doodling. I'd say try not to spend too much time on deviantArt, lol. It's kind of depressing how many good artists there are on here...

Oh believe me, I know how you feel. I started out making covers because I wanted to draw my own cover for this story I was planning. That was 3 years ago. I still haven't finished the story (it keeps changing and I keep tossing everything I wrote on it). But yeah, now I make covers so I guess that's worth it. I'm still working on it... I'm once again at chapter one, for the 5th time...
You know, I've never actually written a full-length novel? Eh, I hate that. (I'm so envious of Monica and her crazy novel writing abilities. Since Finvarra's Circus, she finished 4 novels, and now she's writing Witchling. My mind can't handle that! The drawback is that she absolutely can't write short stories. They always morph into novels. Novels are still much more useful...)

You and Monica are two of my personal role models- I mean this in all honesty. The two of you make such a great team and I look at my work that I've been working on and think, wow, if I could be a great as them and make a debut novel I would die the happiest person on earth. But then I remember that everyone has their own writer's and drawing muses. Most of my work (art wise) is in the anime-style, and recently I am trying to change up the style, by trying to juggle in some more fantasy based art, like John Howe for example, who is the concept artist for The Hobbit and the LOTR.

Wow, thank you! Well, it's mostly Monica who's doing great with the debut novels and stuff
(And you know my art used to be very manga-ish as well. My family still calls it manga and buys me manga drawing books for Christmas, which sucks, because I haven't been into drawing manga for 5 years... I want to do realistic drawing now, and landscapes. I dread landscapes. I'd definitely love to be able to draw like John Howe! He's a genius...)
And well, somehow I can never keep up the writing for long enough. I'm an extremely slow writer. Also, in January and June I have exams and I can't do anything other than study, so by the time the month is over and I reread what I wrote before, I think it's crap and throw it away. Another thing, I think, is that I never feel the need to write my stories down like Monica does. I'm perfectly happy with having them inside my head and making some drawings of them. In fact I hate writing them down, but it's the best way to share them so I keep trying...

Whenever I review over my old works, I usually cringe at my written works, and then try to figure out how I can make it better. When it comes to my artistry, I try to rework my drawing muscles by doodling. I usually write out blurbs to get my writer's muscles going and if the blurbs take from there.

Lol, it's not the amount of stories tat is the problem. I have tons of story ideas that I would love to write. It's the fact that I can't seem to finish a novel. It always goes wrong somewhere. I've written a ton of short stories (some of which could perfectly be turned into novels), but yeah, I always fail. I just don't have enough time to finish a novel in one go...
As for art, I've got the muscles down

Lol if only I had enough ambition to work on my drawing muscles- yes I admit, I have some work still left to do. Time is everything for a writer; I guess that I have too much time on my hands seeing as I'm writing a dark faerie tale. Huh I need a time by myself or something...
As for you drawing the heads to big, don't worry, I can draw the eyes alright, but the heads aren't realistic in my opinion...You draw better than me hands down.
