Sir, love the work. I´m new to Deviant but I´ve known about your work since Branden told me about you. Didn´t know you were an artist back in high school, hahaha. And then I saw Ron´s video on youtube and well I was impressed and surprised to find another artist that had the same ideas about growth as myself. Anyway, Keep up the good work sir and have fun.

I think I have seen her play before a while ago, but I will have to watch her again. From what I could remember she was very passionate and amazing with her technique.
I am a big fan of Hilary Hahn, Nigel Kennedy and I also admire Maxim Vengerov

How long have you been painting for? Are you self taught?
I have difficulty using the acrylics... I was disappointed in myself today.

I have been at it for a long time-- I'm an old man! Don't be disappointed in yourself. Maybe you're too concerned. Go at it with no worries! Try it. --r

I have been procrastinating using the acrylics because it is so out of my comfort zone 
I find it impossible to get the fine detail which can be achieved with pencil drawing.

My comfort zone is realism, I tend to be very detailed and fine, however I guess I really want to experiment with different styles to try and get better and more versatile too. I'm best in pencil work... but I was wondering, is it better to be really good in one medium, or to be versatile and able to work in many mediums?

Jasmine-- the KEY to ALL great art is to be the very best "draftsman" or "draftswoman" that you can be. This is undisputable! You will always be able to "loosen" up, but discipline and understanding of every nuance of drawing is a critical thing to achieve. You are doing very good work-- keep it up and do not stop!

My mother will be helping me to sell my paintings, I'm still not entirely sure how to get myself "out there." I'm currently studying an art degree at University, and I love it
How did you get started?

How I got started is a bit complicated; I can tell you that for me it began at about age nine; it started with drawing of course. My love for art grew rapid and deep; it became more of who I am rather than something happening around me. I can tell you that I began to love art more than my life-- sounds strange, doesn't it? But it's true. I have paid a heavy price for my devotion to it, believe me.

Daily, I am in a true race for time-- I spend hours every day making art; not just because I desire to, but because I MUST. I have had this compulsion my whole life-- it's in my blood!
By the way, leaving your small town may not necessarily solve the question about how to make your art world "click"-- try thinking in terms of pulling the "world" to you--

OhMyGod Wow! Okay, so George R.R. Martin is a fantasy author and he...is...unbelievable. I was never into fantasy until I read him. His big epic series is called A Song of Ice and Fire. The first book is A Games of Thrones...you should really give him a try. It really changed my life.

The characters he created are just so endearing...They represent so many parts of human personality and the story line...it's so tragic and celebratory and horrifying. He just creates so much emotion. I've never been so attached to fictional people before.

Wow-- thank you for the lead; I will get his book. Now all I have to do is find the time, but I will. I read books I like in "fill-n" moments of my life... passages during periods of waiting. My primary time is reserved for making art. I spend at least half of my day each day making art; sometimes whole days-- 18 to 20 hours. ---Sick huh?

Maybe just commit to reading a chapter each night. It's a very involved story. Not one that I'd recommend coming back to every once in a while.
