Greetings, James!
There are lot of great studios like Wizards of the Coast or Paizo, who are always willing to hire an artist. Unfortunately, I've never tried to contact them, but Paizo have commissioned couple of artworks for a friend of mine. But for every company and every brand they have there own quality control. If you ever played Magic the gathering, you do remember the wast range of art styles there, right? From the hyper-realistic digital paintings of John Avon to Rebecca Guay's watercolors. And every single piece is different. Just like D&D's 3'5 manuals. Just like Berserk CCG.
And about the commisions: As a designer I take about 16 £ for a simple logo, 60 £ for a brandbook, somewhere about 20-30 £ for some big illustration or album art. But that's what I charge here in Ukraine and this price will be simply irrelevant in UK, right? Right now I have a full-time job and I finish my diploma in the Academy of printing. Also I do other illustrations as a freelancer or just for myself.
Since I live in Western Europe all contracts and licenses here are some shady stuff.

I see, thanks for that. At least I have some idea of what other people are doing. As for contracts, don't you write ones yourself? I have an example one which I could send you. It's always good to at least have some kind of contract which outlines what the commissioner can and can't do with your work, and what is expected from you. It professional, and helps keep things fair so if they do try to rip you off, or try and do things with your artwork that you don't want, you have it down in righting. It also guarantees them that you will do 'this amount of work' for 'this money' no more, no less.

I'll post it on my Journal actually, It might be useful to some to at least think about writing up their own contracts.

Насчет рульбука - крайне маловероятно. Хорошо, если к тому времени выйдет хотя бы одна книжка из нескольких запланированных. Да и коммерческой направленности у проекта нет и не будет.

Хотя планы по прежнему наполеоновские: книжная серия, космосим в духе UC, и сеттинг к GURPS, уже находящийся в параллельной разработке. Может быть что-то из этого и выйдет.

Если интересует - могу как-нибудь потом скинуть имеющиеся в наличии четыре готовых главы.

Разумнее всего мне кажется завершить три базовых продукта:

- Core Book сеттинга

- Первую художественную книгу

- Игру на Андроид/ АйОС

Далее с имеющимся контентом отправиться на Кикстартер и попробовать собрать финансирование на:

- Художественный перевод на английский язык

- Книгу Мастера

- Книгу Игрока

- Второй и третий роман

- Полномасштабный космосим.

Ну тут опять таки вопрос убеждений. С кикстартером и прочая прочая связываться без крайней необходимости не будем. С ведройдом и айфончиками - не будем точно. Подобная предложенной стратегия, с некоторыми поправками в принципе уже есть, но пока что на крайний случай. 

Вселенка, так или иначе делается в основном для себя. Да и не оценят, раз даже аффтары свежего римейка X-COM вставили дисклеймер, суть которого в том, что дескать, "мы не пропагандируем ксенофобию, силовое решение вопросов с братьями по разуму и так далее". Это при том, что X-COMовский сеттинг по умолчанию подразумевает лютую, бешеную ненависть хуманов к пришельцам. А во Влиянии все намного, намного жестче.
