# About me
I'm known as Lia, and I'm a teenager from the US. I update my tumblr art blog more frequently than this, including WIPs, and I'm (hopefully) going to start taking commissions next summer.I usually work with a refurbished Wacom Bamboo tablet, and Photoshop CS5.1, with occasional traditional sketches here and there.
I previously took a traditional art class once a week, where I worked primarily on anatomy, but that ended, so it's just what I can find on the internet and figure out on my own, now.
If for some reason I'm not answering messages or you want to commission me(when the time comes), or you just don't feel like talking through DA's comment section, my email is: rosaliart.tumblr@gmail.com
And....I think that's it. Any questions? Let me know.

Hey there! Just checking out your new account! You've really come a long way since I first got to know you! Great gallery, hun!

Awww, thanks! That means a lot. Your gallery is looking pretty nice, too; though of course I'd still love to see some more recent stuff. How're things going with you?

No problem, dear. Just being honest Thanks, mate! There will be some new stuff up shortly, I hope! I've been drawing quite a lot since I got holiday, but I'm a little bit rusty. Otherwise everything is just peachy How are you doing?

RosaliaArt In reply to Skogsro [2013-06-18 22:09:57 +0000 UTC]
Oh, good, good. I GOT A TABLET FOR MY EARLY BIRTHDAY PRESENT AND EVERYTHING ABOUT IT IS FABULOUS!!! It sounds like you've had more time to draw, which is gret; it always sucks when you can't. And if you're rusty? Well, just jump right on back in and do things that possibly make you want to cry in frustration but end up being awesome because you tried. Best way to get out of an art funk for me is to draw something I avoid/hate drawing, really test my limits, you know? And you learn and improve the things you suck at while also freeing up your inspiration block--double win! Practice makes perfect and all that, right?

Wow, that's awesome!
Excellent advice. So true, and even if most pics don't turn out like I want them too I have too much fun to finally be able to draw again! Did you have a nice midsummer, by the way?
π: 0 β©: 1
RosaliaArt In reply to Skogsro [2013-06-24 00:26:01 +0000 UTC]
Yes, it is awesome, and I have a lot of fun playing with it. Just drawing in general is always fun, and even when I get frustrated by my progress(or lack thereof) or skills, I wouldn't dream of ever giving it up. What would I do then?
And yes, I did. But the heaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat, ugh, to be honest I hate the weather in california. I'm moving to somewhere like Portland(Oregon) the first chance I get--I just wanna live somewhere rainy and cold with lots of roses and a good art scene with minimal bugs that never gets above mid-eighties and has low risk of devastating natural disasters, and portland seems to have everything I'm looking for. Give me six years and I'll be dragging my best friend out there to (hopefully) stay. It's a dream that I hope will become my reality.
Is it so much to ask, to not want 105 degree weather? I JUST WANT SWEATER SEASON BACK ALREADY(I love sweaters, and rain, and cold weather, and tea, and all the things that come from cold weather, and so this is basically my idea of torture, hot and humid and so disgusting I keep kicking my sheets off at night). California has around nine months of (incredibly hot) summer, and I hate it with a passion.
But enough whining, how are things with you lately?

Skogsro In reply to RosaliaArt [2013-06-26 12:28:23 +0000 UTC]
Well, that's the thing, isn't it? That one can always improve is the best and in another way the worst thing
Oregon, you say? Hehe, well, I'm with you there, mate! I couldn't live in a place with nine months a year of really hot weather. I need my cold winters! With a colder climate, I think I appreciate the sun and the warm weather a lot more than if I'd live in a country in the south. The only downside of living as far up north as I do is that during winter, we only see the sun for about 5 hours per day :/
Ooh, I love to have a really rainy day (sitting inside sippin tea is the best!) once in a while, though maybe not all the time...
I'm really good, thanks! I've been drawing some more and I've been catching up with my old friends since I got back to my home town. Plus, we've had both rainy and cold weather and some really hot, sunny days, so that's a nice balance!

RosaliaArt In reply to Skogsro [2013-06-27 01:41:36 +0000 UTC]
Well, I guess it all depends on what you define as 'really hot' and 'really cold', y'know? Everyone has different standards. For instance, my hatred of this weather stems mostly from the extreme humidity even in 'not bad' heat(the eighties, for instance), and the /one hundred and three degrees/ it's going to be by my birthday. When the humidity isn't that bad and there's a nice breeze(more like our spring weather, for instance, which mostly stays in the sixties and seventies, with occaisonal dips up and down during the night, afternoons, and such), it's actually pretty nice here. But that only happens a fraction of the time here, and the highest it get's to makes me want to claw my own eyeballs out and drown in ice.
I envy you your rain--it's back to sunshine, torturous humidity, and heat here.
And tea is my love, Irish breakfast is my favorite. I like it more than cocoa, and better than most coffee. I'm glad things are going well for you--but for now, I need to run off to dinner. Bye!

Ah, yes that is true. Hehe, I had to google the fahrenheit scale 100 degrees is WAY to hot for my taste! Around seventy/eight is more my cup of tea. I really get why there are so many people with swimming pools in California...
Too bad... Though we had sunny and pretty hot weather today, but not at all the same humidity that you've got.
Tea is definitely the greatest hot beverage there will ever be. Thank you, and the same to you! Bye!

I know--I live right across from a lake entrance, but no pool for me. They certainly have their uses, though--unfortunately the water's a bit too cold for swimming lately. It's 90 in the shade right now, and ugh, I'm just planning to spend it all inside. Forget my daily walk, it's too hot for this, and I'm tired and sore. Tea is a fabulous wonderful thing I wish I had suitable weather for more often(dreams fondly of Portland and rain and endless amounts of tea), and any time it dips below seventy I drink tons of it. I take it you use celsius normally, then? I haven't checked the humidity here today, yet, but it doesn't feel too bad right now.
Oh! I chose the winners for my birthday request giveaway on tumblr, so I should really get back to working on those. Have a good day, bye!

Oh, is the lake too cold at the moment? That's too bad! I've got a river very close and a really nice old quarry turned into a small lake. The bad part is it's almost three quarters of an hour by bike, but it's totally worth it!
You can always drink ice tea I would only be able to sleep in the shade, waking up only for a glass of cold beverage once in a while with a climate like yours. Yep, we use celcius here in Sweden. He was actually a Swede too Β
Cool, good luck! Have a good day to you too!

Yeah, it is a shame. I have to borrow my older sister's swimsuit tops every time I go swimming, though, and she only has bikinis, and I've always been more of a one piece/tankini person. Sadly, I have a chest, so that's no longer an option. Your river and lake sound really nice, though!Β
The lake here is literally just across the street, we just walk up the driveway, turn left, cross the intersection, and walk along the side of the road/entrance and you're at the boat launch. You have to walk more from there if you wanna swim on the shoreline at the launch, but if you take a boat out you can get to bays and forks of the lake and beaches and stuff and there's a floating port-a-potty and little islands that come up when the water level is low. And, of course, the dam(so many percy jackson jokes waiting for me here). And a few years ago we used to live closer to the /city/ city nearby and we'd drive to the river and bring floaties and hang with friends and there were much-used beaches and lifejackets and stuff, but it was always really crowded in the summer, which is the only time it's warm enough to swim.Β
I'm, sadly enough, not really a big fan of iced tea or coffee. I guess I'm just too stuck on my hot drinks. It would serve me well somewhere colder, but alas, I was born and raised in California, and here I am stuck. For now, at least. But sometimes if I wake up early like at six am it's in the seventies and I can drink tea. But I usually only go to bed at one AM, so I don't do that often. My sister usually wakes up at five, though, crazy person that she is(she's a competetive athlete on her off season, and she's very obsessive. She's dieting a lot to try and make it down to lightweight, since she's too short to be the best heavyweight, even though she has a faster time than anyone else on her team--she's a rower, y'see).Β
I'm a pasty pale person, mostly through choice(I can tan, yes, but I like shade and air conditioning and darkness so much better than frying myself to a crisp. So I have lots of freckles on my shoulders and arms, a few on my legs, some really light ones on my face, and I'm fishbelly white/glow in the dark everywhere else, which my sister apparently sees as a personal insult), I thrive in the shade and the air conditioning, and ice water is a must right now--not even lemonaide, or soda, or whatever, just lots and lots of ice water. I didn't drink one day I walked a few months ago, and I got dehydrated and almost didn't make it back and collapsed on the couch and it was not a pretty sight. I learned my lesson--now I take waterbottles on the walk with me.
Cool! Sweden, huh? I've never been anywhere but California and Florida, so basically places that are really really hot. I mean, I've seen snow, of course, we have mountains just a bit aways, I live in the foothills, but I'm never lived anywhere that doesn't get above ninety, I've only ever /visited/ snowy/rainy places. Snow feels like a myth, in heat like this. What is Sweden like? You've said that it's not as hot as here, but what's the weather like there, very humid? Snow? Rain? Sun? Storms/thunder? Color me curious, I guess, but I just wonder what it's like places that are not here.
Have a nice day, love--Lia

Ah, I see. Too bad :/
Sounds like a good place for swimming! Hahaha, oh all the dam-jokes! Loved that part in the books (and the fact that the joke is mentioned in later books as well)!Β
Too bad! I can see why you tresure the colder, rainier days. Oh, gosh, your sister wakes up at five? That only happens to me when I'm back up north where I study, and the sun rises at three in the morning... She's a rower? Cool! Is it something she does or want to do professionally?
You're quite wise not to fry yourself - skin cancer you know! I'm a very seasonal person, so after a long cold winter I can't wait to get out into the sun (as soon as the temperature goes above 60, people here start sunbathing ) and after a hot summer the cold and snow is a bliss! Yeah, when you live in such a hot climate I can imagine you have to drink all the time! I've never got such a bad case of dehydration, but it sounds awful!Β
Everyone seems to want to go to California and Florida, though! My family lived in North Carolina for a year, but I was so small I can't remember. We've visited the States a couple of times since then, though. The US is amazing, with such diversity of nature! Otherwise we've travelled quite a lot, which is really nice. Anyhow, Sweden differ quite a lot since it's a rather long country from north to south. Generally, though, it's hot but usually not very humid during the summers (in the southern parts it's usually around 70 to just below 90. 90 is really hot, though.). There's a saying that a real Swedish summer offers a lot of rain and everyone here usually complains about it. It's not that bad, though! Our summer months are usually from June to the beginning of September and after that it gets colder and darker and usually rainier. In UmeΓ₯, where I study, we usually get snow in November and it doesn't melt until the end of March, but the climate is milder down south. Temperatures in UmeΓ₯ (and sometimes in the more southern parts as well) ranges from 25 to -22 during winter. Since Sweden is situated up in the north the daylight waries a lot as well! For example, in UmeΓ₯ during wintertime, the sun is only up for about four hours per day, but during summer we have about 22 hrs of sun! It never gets really dark during the summer, but it can be quite depressing sometimes during winter. I'd love to know more about California as well! What kind of nature have you got? What do you like best about living there?
Have a lovely day! - Britta

Sweden sounds really cool! (no, that was not meant to be a bad pun--I have slightly better taste than that. But only slightly, and only sometimes) I've almost hit the point where I'm ready to kill someone for some rain or snow, here. I have taken up swimming at the aquatic center(the water comes off the dam so it's always slightly colder than I really want, but since it's so hot here, you may be cursing internally at the cold water at first, but you soon get used to it--I'm grateful for it, really, swimming is a nice reprieve from the heat here. A short walk to get to the beach, and then it's got benches and grills and tables farther from the water, walking paths and stuff, lots of people hang around there in the summer. The aquatic center is where my sister's rowing team practices and hosts competitions, too. She's actually working on stuff for applying for Rowing Scholarships for college, since she's turning eighteen next year, and in six weeks she's dragging me onto her team as a coxswaine--not a rower, but the tiny person in the stern who steers the boat, and she says she'll make me walk across the street to get into the car so she doesn't have to be seen with me if I don't get the A boat--the top boat. I'm not very competitive, but she certainly is) every other day, and that's helping, but it's still ridiculously hot and humid here--when it's 95F it feels 100F, usually, because of the humidity, and said sister drags me on a one mile walk(she's going to make me start running part of it in a few days) on the days I don't swim. I always come back covered in sweat and head straight for the shower after drinking lots of water.
So, wanna hear about California, huh? Well, I can say that it's not always all it's cracked up to be--I mean, sure, we have some nice beaches, and places on the coast don't really get as hot as it does inland because of the water and the breeze off the ocean, but it's still cooking here. We get about nine months of summer, usually, and it's hot as h#ll the whole way through. Sometimes we get rainstorms and thunderstorms during the summer, and that siphons off some of the heat, but it usually makes it more humid, too. We had a few days of rain a week or so before my birthday this year, and let me tell you, walking in the rain was so much nicer than doing it in this heat. I've lived in the suburbs/city my whole life, but my family did a lot of camping when I was younger, and since we live in the foothills right now, my sisters drive anywhere from forty five minutes to two and a half hours usually to go to some of the nice hiking trails we have higher up and hike about eight to thirteen miles every weekend or so.Β
I live two minutes away from the local prison, but it's hidden behind low hills and lots of grass so you can only really tell it's there at night when the lights come on, and driving past you can usually see turkeys, sometimes deer, sometimes cows on the property.Β
I've been to a few moderately well-known, interesting places in California to visit, I guess--my cousins, aunt, and uncles live in San Diego, and my grandparents lived there, too, before they moved up here to be closer to us, so we'd drive the nine or so hours to go up there for thanksgiving every year and a few other visits. My sister and I spent the summer up there with them several years ago, and it was really nice. It's very hot, there, it's actually a desert, really. Most of the water is piped in, and it hardly ever rains there, so the sprinklers on the lawns go on year-round.Β
My great aunt and her fiancee live in San Francisco, so I've been there a few times to visit--I went several months ago, in fact, with my grandma, to stay the night with them and then go to my sister's rowing competition. We went to the de Young art museum, actually, while The Girl with the Pearl Earring was there. It was absolutely stunning, there was such a luminescent quality to the skin and the way she met your gaze made her seem like she'd finish turning around any second. There were a lot of plates, too, and after the tour of the museum we walked around the fountains and trees outside. We didn't have time for anything else before my sister's competition, though, which was at one of the parks--with a lake, of course, though apparently not a very big one.Β
Pier 31, on the other hand, is amazing. There's this place with a donut machine on the Pier that makes /the best/ mini donuts I have ever had in my /life/, along with a carousel and lots of restaurants and stuff. There's a specialty socks store, too, which we had fun browsing. Pizza, parks, food trucks, the Piers, lots of museums and interesting things to do--San Fransisco is definitely awesome. The weather there is slightly cooler than it is where I am, the ocean again, but they get lots and lots of fog because of it. Sometimes they get sunshine and warmer weather, though. The hills there are legendary, and it's such a colorful place--the buildings are painted basically any color people want. Pinks, blues, purples, oranges, bright acid greens to pastels to anything else under the sun. No color is too garish for San Fran. You can find some really cool sidewalk art and wall art just driving and walking around there, too. I'd definitely love to go back to visit, and not just because my best friend lives not too far away from there.Β
We have all kinds of nature here--if I drive across the street there's a lake, five minutes in one direction and it's all fields and farmland and wild space, fifteen minutes and there's horse ranches and property, an hour or two up into the hills in the winter and we can find snow, a bit farther to find it in the summer. I've been up to Lake Tahoe, before, and it's really pretty out there. I've only been once or twice, though, several years ago.Β
Aaaaaand I'm being shuffled off to bed, since it's two AM, but more on what it's like here next time, I guess. Have a great day!
Love--Lia

Haha, well I do love a bad pun! Yes, swimming definitely sounds like a good idea. Oh, I hope your sister will get the scholarship! Aha, so your sister is trying to get you into rowing (or steering, I guess)? Have you tried it before? Ach, running in hot weather - I just can't do it. Way to warm.
Whoa, nine months of summer is quite a long summer! I guess you can really appreciate when it rains... You know, I actually like walking, running or riding a bike in the rain (as long as it's not too cold in the air). Hiking is nice, I can see why they find it worth a long drive.
Oh, turkeys! They're quite big right? We haven't got any wild ones over here.Β
Ah, yes, San Diego I've heard of. I think my father went there to attend a conference...Β
So you saw The Girl with a Pearl Earring? That's awesome! I'd like to see it too someday. Lucky for me it usually resides here in Europe! I like that about museums; ther's usually a lot more to be enjoyed than just the art inside it.Β
I'll make sure to give the donut machine a whirl if I ever go there! Sock store, you say? This must sound funny, but I do love to buy funky socks San Fransisco sounds nice! I've been there, but it was so long ago I can't remember... If you've got your best friend living there you have an excellent excuse t go there!
That's lovely - having all kinds of nature around you!
Oh, do continue telling me, it's really interesting! Have a great day to you too!
Hugs, Britta

Hi! Sorry it's taken me such a ridiculously long time to reply--real life kind of sucked me in and refused to let go. Bad puns are my lifeblood, mostly because there's not much better than the reactions of the people around you (the groans, the 'stop's, the 'nononoNO's, the 'was that /really/ necessary?'s, and all that fun stuff). It's a genetic trait, too. Just wait until my grandpa and I get started on the egg-puns(my dad has a lot of really really bad ones).
I have tried being a Coxswaine before, for two weeks last year. For unrelated reasons I had to stop after the two week trial period, but it's actually started again and today is day three. (I was stuck on land doing workouts yesterday--everything. hurts.)Β
Yeah, nine months is a lot. It was in the hundreds two days ago--thankfully it's cooler by the water, and there was a breeze yesterday. It's supposed to start cooling down now, but I really just want fall to come already. Sweaters, boots, blankets, tea, leaves changing color, rain, pumpkin everything...yes, I like fall. Much better than summer.
Turkeys are...decently big, generally. Larger than chickens, I guess, probably around the size of the average goose. I don't know if they're really wild since they spend so much time on the Prison Property, but we have them.Β
Yes, yes I did! It was amazing! Let me know if you ever get the chance to see it--it's now one of my all-around favorite pieces of art, it's /gorgeous/. I even got a t-shirt with it on the front from the museum giftshop. Shame I hate things around my neck so I hardly wear it. :/ Oh well, such is life.
I agree--one of the best things about going to museums is all the extra little things you never expected to find. Weird socks make me happy inside. I pretty much never wear matching socks, and most of my socks are knee-high and patterned and brightly colored. I love socks a ridiculous amount.
Aaaaaand now I need to go eat breakfast because I leave for rowing in two hours oOOPS BYE!
(sorry again that it took me so long to reply, I saw it and read it and then got pulled away before I could reply and then I just totally forgot I'M SORRY PLEASE FORGIVE ME)
Many hugs and much glomping--Lia

No worries! I know what you mean... Haha, well I'd say it's a good heredity trait! Even if one will hear quite a few egg-puns...
Ah, so it's no completely new for you, then.
Oh, if you feel that way, you should definitely come here! At the moment, we've got 57. And rain. Can't say I'm as overjoyed as you might be Buuut, now comes the season of tea, hot chocolate and candles!
Oh, I'll definitely let you know if I go and see the painting! Β Oh, it's one of your favorites? Nice! Is that so? Personally, I'm a big fan of T-shirts.
Ah, those are the best kind!Β
So how does the rowing go? Still keeping it up?
Oh, don't you worry! I do it all the time myself!

Yep, still keeping up rowing. Speaking of, I should start getting ready soon. It's cooled down a fair bit, the past few days, and in fact I'm sitting here in flannel pajamas with a cardigan on my lap. Oooooh, I would love to have your weather, though! It's supposed to rain here soon-ish, but soon is never soon enough, when it comes to rain.
Tea makes me so happy, I can't wait until I can drink it non-stop(I'm one of those people who just can't drink hot drinks in hot weather. my sister is, though, and I envy her that).
Aaaaaand I would say more, but I procrastinated and now I really need to go get ready. I'll try to make the enxt one longer to make up for it, okay? Bye!

I got some lovely rain yesterday! I woke up early, got dressed in long sleeves and tights and skirt and my comfiest cardigan, and braved the Farmer's Market. Ate a waffle, came home with some lovely fruits and veggies, fun for all. Danced in the rain in the afternoon, came in soaking wet to grin (probably kinda crazily) at everything while making lunch(noodles and chicken) and dripping all over the floor. Unfortunately it was sunny again today, but although not cold, it was wonderfully crisp. I finally got my cold-weather tea today, too!
I just finished and posted my next art prompt result, and it's now two thirty Am. I promised a longer reply this time, and I'm afraid I find myself unable to deliver. :/ I'll post it here in the morning, and try to make the next reply longer(I mean it this time!!!) but for now, farewell and goodnight!

Haha, that's great! (I think...) It sounds like you had a lovely time And finally the perfect tea-time for you! Heh, it actually snowed today (though it didn't stay on the ground, at least) and I've come down with a really bad cold. The only positive thing is that it came really fast and hopefully will be over quite fast as well.Β
Oh, cool! I'm going to go and check it out! No worries, I'm sure you'll do better next time Β
