I really enjoy your pictures from Centralia...I've wanted to go but was uncertain of the lay of the land and how stable/unstable the ground is...in some articles, authors make it as if you can drive right through the town, others make it sound like Chernobyl..

Thank you. From my experience it's safe, as long as stick to the main roads and paths. It's not uncommon to see ATV's and off-road vehicles mucking about. I'd say if you want an adventure go see it, just be careful. It's no more dangerous then say hiking in Yellow Stone, or portions of the Appalachian Trail. Just be mindful of the residents and be respectful of the land, and enjoy your visit.

You're welcome.

If Red Stag are anything like American White Tail then this was probably a confrontation over a female. Most of these shows of dominance usually end before they become violent. The less dominate deer will back down and become submissive. This is especially true if evenly matched in size, as these two are. Deer are not dumb, they won't fight unless they think they can win. But, I don't honestly know how similar their behaviors are.

you're welcome. At first glance I thought it was an IR photo of a deer, but after closer inspection I noticed that everything was white with snow. Must have been a bit chilly out.

It was chilly, but it warmed up fast. Didn't have a very big window to time to get photographs before the sun melted the frost. Grateful to God for the window I did have!

Sweet...get to work editing those photos...you're retired and have plenty of time. Stop resting on your laurels and get to work

Me too man, the internet is an amazing thing isn't it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DavidPenney In reply to Ryan-Warner [2011-07-27 19:14:46 +0000 UTC]

was wondering where you get the idea that I am retired from?? I work from 6am till 2pm everyday, Monday through Friday. I probably don't have as much time to myself for my photography as I would like but I cannot complain buddy

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ryan-Warner In reply to DavidPenney [2011-07-27 19:46:02 +0000 UTC]

I thought you had said something about being retired or something...maybe it was about the kids being out of the house that I associated with being retired. Or maybe it was being retired from the military. Didn't mean to assume you were older then you are. 6am? poor you. I don't have to be in until 8:30am, but I don't get done till 5pm. I have never been a morning person so 6am is way to early for me.

I know what you mean by not enough time to yourself. I wish I had more time to pursue photography...that's why I'm trying to talk my woman into making enough money to support us both so I don't have to work...it's not going well thought

DavidPenney In reply to Ryan-Warner [2011-07-27 19:52:02 +0000 UTC]

wish you all the luck in the world with that one Ryan, I am 51 and still dont have enough hours in the day to do all the things I would like too but it could be so much worse so no complaints from me. You take care and keep working on the plan, you never know
