I noticed in your journal you mentioned you were going to New Orleans for a missions trip.Did you go as part of the ELCA youth convention for your missions trip or did you go with a seperate group? Just wondering.

I went as part of the ELCA Youth Convention, yes.

My group, along with a bunch of others, split up into groups of around five people and took a designated block from a neighborhood and asked if there were any youth in the house, and if so what would the youth like to see happen with their neighborhood.

They sent all 35 of us to Mardi Gras World to learn about Mardi Gras. Then we built really pathetic floats. I wish we had your service project. That one sounded like you at least got to do something productive. We were hoping we'd get assigned cleaning detail or something some place. Oh well, we all got really great pictures out of it and it Did make the people happy that we took the time to learn about the place I guess. At least that's what they told us.

Our group didn't feel like we did much either. We wanted to build something, or you know feel like we did something to REALLY help out. The way the people in charge of this told us that us being there to talk to the individual people and hear their stories really helped them. So I guess kind of like you said, it made those people happy.
