Axel Saurwald is amazing.  You have good taste.  I haven't updated my Pinterest account in a LONG time.  I switched my focus onto my DA daily art journal.  I am hesitant to self-advertise, but I would like to point out that the Fantasy art journal is a daily feature I do so the easiest way to keep up on my favorite art is to watch me.  That way you will get all my Art features straight to you notifications.  I wish you all the best too! I've been consumed by Dark Souls but, as of current, I have been practicing musculoskeletal structure and cloth...  
I still lack skill and have yet to (find) touch up the pieces that you, and others, have requested.

Indeed, but had almost forgotten about that. You had asked me who you should draw but honestly I would have liked you to do whichever character you found to be more appealing/interesting XD. Well there isn't much choice at this point really. Just my MC (Kaede/Saouri), and Nandi(I haven't done much work on Nandi as yet so you may be so you would have a lot of freedom with her(as long as she is dark skinned, dark brown eyes) Hair and everything else would be up to you as I haven't established her style as yet.

Or perhaps you may draw the deity/dragon beast creature. But if I had to suggest, I would say Nandi as you'll have much more freedom to portray her (since her design is not as definite as Saouri's.) Otherwise Saouri can be your choice as well

The choices are MC (Kaede/Saouri), Nandi (who I'll be bitten for not at least shading her skin), or your dragon deity thing...
I'll try all three, but I'd like named hyperlinks to the characters (if you can) so that I don't confuse them.

I've drawn Nandi's face but I'm going to try an throw some masai style clothes on her... the hair is going to kill me...
So, I've got some research to do.

Saouri is proving to be harder, as her depicted features don't resemble known humans (she is to cartoony). Do you have any real people to use as references or desire any ethnicity in particular?

Matsui (physically) is a very large serpent, with the head of a chinese dragon and a pair of large wings, that seems to inhabit Saouri's body. Am I wrong?
As well, it's surface is... odd. What is Matsui made of? Blood?

Matsui is a serpentine dragon true, i often depict it as a flaming dragon ie. "God of Wrath". Hence the uneven surfaces and stormy surroundings.

I guess I have to do more work on Saouri then, I modeled her after a girl of East Asian descent. Maybe you can try looking at this one, it was my earliest depiction of Saouri as Kaede: [link]

As for Nandi, yeah me too, don't fuss too much about it though, as her character design has evolved quite a bit after that, she is merely masai inspired, she is not masai and I have drawn some influences on her character designs from other African tribes as well. Also note that her adult self won't be in the Southern continent (synchronous to Africa) but in the Eastern (Like Asia) which leans more towards a fusion of Asian and modern fashion.

So you shouldn't constrain yourself too much. But it'll be interesting seeing your ethnically authentic version. I also plan to do more of those...

Do you still have the picture of the East Asian woman you used as a basis for Saouri? You haven't drawn Saouri as a portrait, so the shape of her head and her features are confusing me.

I'll try an go wild with Nandi's clothing. Do you have a time period I could use? You mentioned modern. As well, I based her face off of one of your depictions so hopefully it's good...
Her head may be wider than you like, as per my style.

That is okay... The world I made up is kind of weird, I don't know if you have watched a show called gintama, but that world is basically like that. Has historical/feudal syles and architecture, yet combined with modern and futuristic elements!. So Go nuts!!
I didn't use a real person as reference. I pretty much entirely made Saouri, and the other characters' faces up. I guess in that sense you are free to take artistic liberties and make them in your style. If you want a real Asian woman for the basis of Saouri, try Jeeja Yanin, or the girl from Crouching tiger, forgot her full name: Zhang Ziyi
Now that you mention it, maybe I should find real people whose faces I can use as basis for my characters' faces! Had never though of that
