# About me
Hello - call me Kes. That isn't my real name, but here on the internet it is what I go by.I am a video game/fantasy enthusiast and a hobbyist writer. My stories often involve female leads and some sort of battle or external conflict, often in a speculative fiction setting. I do not draw, and I have no intention of ever trying. Trust me, I am saving your poor eyes from much pain.
I am a straight male, and my stories frequently star or at least involve attractive female characters. The only explanation I can come up with for why my stories constantly end up with these characters, whether I meant them to or not, is that the part of my mind that deals with creativity is somehow inextricably linked to the part of my mind that causes me to feel lust. This is a source of constant embarrassment.
I have no writing projects currently, but I do have one planned for the near future. Keep an eye out for journal updates, if you wish.

You asked Numyumi what specifically WAS a "pin-up". That word originated in WWII, when soldiers in Basic Training hung sexy photos of female Hollywood celebrities on the walls of their barracks. Some enterprising commercial artists saw the profit potential in "Sexy Girl Art" and began creating their own lovelies for soldiers to "pin up". Soon it spread to cheesecake calenders and, eventually, to girls painted on the sides of bomber planes as a playful identification marker.
The Pinup craze ebbed during the mid-seventies as things got more explicit, but today the cheesecake pinup is experiencing a revival. Modern pinups attempt to emulate the glory decades of the Forties and Fifties while giving them a modern spin. Manga seems to be the style of choice for today's cheesecake creators. Now you know.

That's... rather silly, and yet quite cool. Thanks!

Folks did silly things back in the day---that's why that part of Americana is so much fun. The country was finally coming out of Europe's shadow and forging its own identity. That energy is sorely missing these days. Too many shadows, too much entropy.
