I love reading and writing books... In an ideal world I would be a published author. In the future I would love to be an editor for children's books and my work experience at Bloomsbury really fed that. How is your Cells novel going?

Hello there! Of course! How have you been? How are your projects?
Unfortunately I haven't written anything for over a year, and Cells has been particularly left behind. While I was at Uni I had so much time to write, but now with work and learning to drive (and my parents split up causing all sorts of havoc) I haven't even had time to pick up where I left off.
I do want to get started again at some point though, as I've had some ideas to rework it.

I do: Kuk Sool Won, it's an absolute passion. I've been practicing since I was about 13, but had to take a break for 3yrs; it's been quite frustrating as I should have reached at least Jo Kyo Nim by now. Still, the club I belong to is fantastic. Do you practice?

I practiced Tang Soo Do and Hapkido for about 1.5 years. I was forced to put it on hold for awhile when I lost my job. Last standing, I was a 7th gup and about ready to test for my next belt. When I eventually go back, I'm hoping I'll get back up to speed quickly. I probably should have kept up with my forms. I'm not looking forward to starting over...

Kuk Sool incorporates so many types so they call it a martial system rather than a martial art, so there may be a quite a few similarities. You may not look forward to starting over, but it was the best thing I did. I had completed the first half of my black belt test when I had to quit and go to Uni (no club nearby) and dreaded coming back after so long, but it's taken me less than a year to catch up. I bet once you start again you'll come on leaps and bounds - like riding a bike, you never really forget it!

Interesting about Kuk Sool. I'm a little worried about whether I'll ever be able to go back to TSD, as I am hoping to move and depending on whether and where that happens, there's a good chance a club won't be nearby. If I'm lucky enough to go back though, I think you're right -- it will probably be very good to start over, giving me a chance to perfect my skills.

Just got to keep your ears open for good clubs if you have to move and although I'm biased you should see if there's Kuk Sool nearby as an alternative! It's quite big in the USA (or so I'm lead to believe) and at least you'd know a lot of the terminology! Nice to chat to someone who understands it

For a piece like that, how can you blame me? I very rarely find a piece of literature that isn't fanfic or the like, and it makes a change to find someone who genuinely wants to hear what other people have to say, the whole 'I can take your criticism, but don't say anything mean' is all too frequent.
