Aww thanks! I wish I had a better display like you though, this was my first year making one! I hope I didn't offend your friend when I yelled at him to not lean on it. I wasn't mad, I was more scared of his/your friend getting pinged in the face with it x_x! I felt really embarrassed afterwards hnnngg whyyyy.

I was suppose to attend Atomic Lollipop but frankly, I couldn't afford the hotel cost (300 dollars for the weekend, WHAT?) and I knew I wouldn't make that money back there, since I heard nothing but bad things from a vendors POV last year, and this year too So I ended up just staying home. So that's pretty much me done for the year! I'll be doing artist alley at con bravo again, and at con-g! If YOU have a booth anywhere, I'd love to drop by and pick up something though ^_^ or I have anything you'd like I can bring it with me!

Ahaha, don't worry about it, I was about to yell at him as well >.< Totally had visions of it toppling over, which would not have been good.

Yeaah, alot of people seem dissapointed in Atomic Lollipop, so I'm kinda glad I wasn't able to get a table anyways since I wasn't in town for it. I'll be at Unplugged Expo and Frostcon (I think) later this year, and then con-g and conbravo again next year, so I'll definitely see you at one of them

Hey!

Illustration is hard to get into, and it's a pretty heavy course load, but it is an awesome program! I'd definitely consider it worth it, I feel like in the 1.5 years I've been in it, I've improved a lot more than I ever could have on my own. If there's any specific questions you have I'd be happy to answer them!

What is the portfolio review like? Do they talk to you about the strengths and weaknesses of your work and is it intimidating?

What about the courses themselves? What is an average day in class like?

I know its a lot of questions, but I hope you can answer them, because I really want to know from someone with the experience.

Portfolio was stressful to put together, but the actual review isn't that intimidating. I'm from Ottawa, so I actually just mailed my portfolio in and then got a score sheet in the mail about a month later. If you're within 100km, you just bring your portfolio to the school, drop it off for a few hours, wait around, then pick it up again. Then you get your score sheet in the mail about a month later as well. You don't really get feedback on your work, just an overall score and whether you're accepted or not. I'd really recommend attending national portfolio day (closest is at OCAD)! Reps from Sheridan and a bunch of other schools show up there, and you get some one on one time and feedback on your work. First year is alot of basics, to get everyone on the same level and get your skills refined, 2nd year you explore alot, 3rd year is figuring out your style and the 4th year is portfolio work. (in a nutshell...) Classes are usually 3 hours long, you have one or two a day. Studio classes like painting and life drawing are usually all in class, you do the assignment in class then it gets handed in at the end. Other classes have quite a bit of homework, and you usually have to take either one "breadth" or one "elective" per semester, stuff like English and psychology. You also have one computers class per semester, atleast for the first 2 years, and you learn stuff like Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.

I had wanted to go to the portfolio day at OCAD, but it past already. From the looks of their schedule, the up coming dates are only in the US.

What does the score sheet look like? Do you have any recommendations for the portfolio?

I'm really nervous about not being good enough for the program. How did you know if you where ready to apply or not?

The score sheet basically just lists the components of the portfolio, your score for eahc, and then a tally of all your marks and final percentage.

Idk, I just kind of went for it >.> Worst that could've happened is they rejected, then I take Art Fundies and try again the next year. You don't really have anything to lose by applying And they only take people they think are good enough, so if you're on the level they want.
