Hey!

OI! was up! ^^ just wonted to thank you for adden me to your watchlist!! ^^ really apriciate it.

>>>Hey, no biggie. You turn out stuff that looks good, so naturally, I'm gonna wanna take a look.

I'll also return teh favor. You dont seem to post mutch work but thats cool. To every his own right? Besides just makes it that much cooler when you do post stuff.

>>>You didn't have to, but thanks. Just don't expect to see much of anything up anywhere in the near future.

The dragon in your gallery is pretty neat. I cant quite tell what to make of his expression but he's still pretty cool.

>>>Thank you. Like I said in the comments, I'm rather pleased with him...to some extent. And if you've got any ideas on how to make that expression of his more one thing and less of another, please feel free to share! Lord knows I can use all the help I can get...

You've got some cool photo's in your scraps to.

>>>I just snapped the picture--Mother Nature provided the landscapes. But thanks.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I have ideas for future pieces, but it's a matter of A) finding the time and B) getting comfortable with drawing the Turtles so I can do it consistantly. (See the new journal for a full explanation, if I managed to confuse you.)

Gahh, stupid DevArt! I replied already, but it says I didn't, so here's a double post that shouldn't be...Grrr...Anyway...

Hello right back.

Out of curiosity, what brought it on? Are you one of those odd folks (such as my father, for example) who will say hello and strike up conversations with totally random people at any given opportunity?

Did you see a post of mine, or a piece of mine, or did I post something on a friend's piece, or something? I'm just wondering what brought this on, is all.

I've never been much of a comic book person, myself, and not surprisingly have never heard of the particular comic you just mentioned. The only comics I'm really familiar with are the old-school "Transformers" and "Star Wars" comic books, the ones from the 80s. Though I have to say I've become a fan of this Dreamwave company's new classic "Transformers" comics. (I can't stand the "Armada" or "Energon" BS...it's a corruption and an abomination of a classic cartoon, I think.)

How 'bout real books? I'm a "Lord of the Rings" fanatic, a devotee of "Star Wars", and a recent convert to the cult of "A Song of Ice and Fire", a saga by George R. R. Martin. I'm also rather fond of "'Salem's Lot", "Calvin and Hobbes", and most anything by Dave Barry. What kinds of things do you read?

They sold Transformersβ„’ character book stuff..or somewhat back in the good old days..and yeah I love those Transformersβ„’ comic books they are very well drawn and good story lines..and great maintanence of in-character..good stuff..I loved the cartoons and I am also a huge Ghost Busters fan..I have a few of their comics..we were kinda comic freaks and I still am..my brother has a huge collection of Transformersβ„’ action figure..I remember killing Barbie with it.. ......have you seen the comic book 'KAMIKAZE ' done by the same artists.... fabulous stuff...and well..I wished I had bought some Ghost Bustersβ„’ stuff...i am recollecting a few Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtlesβ„’ stuff though... apart from comics I love Enya..she kinda actually ya..she rocks my socks!!!!

Remember Centurions and Spiral Zone..those stuff are soo good..they never make cartoons like they used to...

SanguineousRex In reply to lesbian-harlequin [2004-10-09 00:22:05 +0000 UTC]

Are you talking about "The Real Ghostbusters" with Slimer and Pete Venkman and Egon Spengler, where they're based out of the firehouse in Manhattan and had the two movies made, or are you talking about "The Extreme Ghostbusters", which was some sort of God-awful knock-off? If you're talking about the "Ghostbusters" that inspired the movies (or that were inspired by the movies...I forget how that worked), then I will agree with you that it was excellent! Never collected the comic books, but I did collect the toys and watch the cartoon religiously every Saturday morning. Heck, I've got a couple tapes of old Saturday morning "Ghostbuster" cartoons here at college with me!

I've never heard of that "Kamikaze" comic before, I'm afraid, and I never really was into the "Ninja Turtles"...well, except for the video games. Those were always lots of fun.

Enya...I haven't heard too much of her stuff, but what I have heard I do like. "May It Be" on the "Fellowship of the Ring" soundtrack is one of my favorite tunes on there. And "Orinoco Flow" (it's an oldie, I know) I thought was catchie when I was little, and I still like it now.

But those cartoons you mentioned--"Centurions" and "Spiral Zone"--I've never heard of, actually. (Cable in my area had a very limited selection.) But I will agree that cartoons aren't as good as they used to be.

Yeah I was talking about the original REAL GHOSTBUSTERS which of course took place at the fire house..yeah with Peter and Egon and..and... it is really awesome..the new one however....the Extreme Ghost Busters..since I am a ghost buster fan ..I can't help it..I kinda love it!I also love the ninja turtle computer games too..I don't remember finishing it ....though...but I love comic books overall..I think transformers should make another come back..but in their original version..I'd hate to see it in any other version..have you seen the Transformer the Movie..God..that one kicked ass....sadly that was the only movie right???

SanguineousRex In reply to lesbian-harlequin [2004-10-09 06:22:32 +0000 UTC]

Well, I'm a poopy traditionalist, and I think bad remakes are and all the people in charge of them can go Especially the people in charge of these abominable Japanese Anime "Transformers" remakes...as my roommate's girlfriend would say, they need to be dragged out into the street and shot to death with toothpicks...They've turned it into robo-"Dragonball Z" as everybody is out searching for the Ultimate Power (TM)! Like a civil war between giant alien robots isn't enough of a plot...and then they go and make it so everybody and their brother merges with somebody else to form Mr. Superbot A who's always invariably weaker than Mr. Superbot B unless they have Mr. Minicon C or Super-de-Duper Weapon With a Dumb Name G...Oh, and let's not even get into the butchery they did to everybody's character designs...

I was almost tempted to rent a tape of the "Extreme Ghostbusters" cartoons from Family Video once, but seeing how they had apparently reduced the cartoon to some bad knock-off of "Scooby Doo" (this is based on the cover art, mind) I couldn't bring myself to, even though it was a kid's video and therefore free.

Remakes are the Devil's Work, plain and simple.

But "Transformers: The Movie" was quite good, and the only movie they made for "Transformers". It was so sad when Prime died... Blur was so cool, though--I wonder whatever happened to the guy who did his voice? John Moschitta, I think his name was (and I'm pretty sure I spelled it wrong just now).

When he died, he gave the Matrix of Leadership first to Ultra Magnus. Hot Rod only got it during the final battle with Unicron, when he stole it from Galvatron (who had stolen it from Ultra Magnus after ordering him terminated by the Sweeps...thanks to Wreck-Gar and the Junkions, though, they brought Magnus back to life, despite the fact that he got turned into little itty bitty bits of wreckage). Hot Rod then became Rodimus Prime, new leader of the Autobots and used the Matrix to destroy Unicron.

I used to enjoy "Scooby Doo", but I just can't really stand it anymore. I guess I kept seeing the same darn episodes over and over and over again, and Shaggy and Scooby have gone from being amusing characters to just plain annoying ones...kinda like Michelangelo, actually.

The stupid Turtle, of course.

And actually, if the fools who created the cartoon wanted to be nice and historically accurate, they should have made Michelangelo the asshole and Raphael the nice guy, 'cause that's the way the actual Renaissance artists were. Michelangelo was a tempermental, prickly, and unpleasant man, while Raphael was all sweetness and light.

Well, as you've probably figured out by now, I'm not exactly an artsy-type person. But I understand they've got a right to parody things--"Weird Al" is one of my favorite singers, after all. I'm just saying that if they had wanted to be accurate with the Turtles' personalities, they should have made Mikey nasty and Raph nice.

It is wonderful, isn't it? I have to say "The Saga Begins" and "Ode to a Superhero" are two of his best.

"And he's ridin' around on that glider thing
And he's throwin' that weird pumpkin bomb
Yes he's wearin' that dumb 'Power Rangers' mask
But he's scarier without it on."

Those lines are so funny especially because they're so true! Willem DaFoe has got to be one of the creepiest looking actors in Hollywood...

I don't think I've got a favorite album, either, actually.

But I do enjoy heavy metal to a degree. Otherwise, my taste in music is weird (if you want to be blunt) or eclectic (if you feel like putting it delicately). I like Clannad and Loreena McKennitt and Metallica and movie soundtracks and "Weird Al", some Matchbox 20, some Dave Matthews, some Linkin Park...basically, if it's not pop, rap, country, or polka, I'll listen to it.

No no no, a good German name would be something like Helmut Joergen Shickelgrueber von Knoerschild. (I'm minoring in German here at the university...could you tell? ) And if you want a good Polish name (they're also famous for their polkas) then the last name would have to end in some spelling variant of "-ski", like "Paulowski" or "Tryzinski", or "Kropitlowsky". (I grew up in a heavily Polish area...can you tell? )

I didn't really listen to anything growing up unless my brother was playing his stereo when we were in the room together...which was really rare, since we couldn't stand one another. That's how I developed my taste for "Metallica", actually. Probably also how I became fond of "Weird Al", too, now that I think about it.
