I know this comment is old af, but last summer there was a wave of spambot accounts like those XD
There was also an incident where abandoned accounts were hacked and faved people's art with a script iirc, to get them to visit their page and click on a suspicious link [which was probably phishing, idk].

[I haven't had spam emails for years now XD! It must be because I use tuta and protonmail. I had to drift away from hotmail and gmail and such because I find the obligation to give your phone number to register to be quite pointless, especially when it comes to making multiple email accounts.
The last spam email I recall getting was a fake email telling me I'd won the lottery or whatever, when I don't even engage in such activities XD]

[I can sort of get where they're coming from with the phone number thing - it can help restore your account if you lose/forget your login details, but it should be optional imo. XD The downside with tuta is that if you forget your login details, you cannot recover your account. It happened to me last month, thankfully it was just a side account I used to sign up to some sites with dummy accounts you know, the kind where they require you to make an account to view/download something XD]

Yes, same XD I don't need my actual email to be full of random crap. The only thing I'm ok using my main email for is dA, because I sometimes file tickets and want to be notified as soon as I get a reply.
