It's a good piece. 
The characters really feel like they have a history, and you have manage to make them not look disjointed from the background, something im still learning

I still struggle to learn how to better integrate my characters into background but I will share what I learned if it helps. I usually do the background first and only when its done, I work on the characters. This way, I referenced upon all the source and environmental lights I already established, I know for sure what bounced light I have and where its coming for and also I know what colors to choose for the characters to better contrast with the background so they can be visible enough.
