# About me

I draw and paint largely from imagination. First, I go outside and study nature by painting plants, rocks, streams, and skies. I study the figure to understand its structure and possible forms. I train my eye for color through observation, and value by building physical models. These studies inspire and guide me when I go to paint or draw things that don't exist. Human physical conflict, peaceful meditation, abundance of life, urban decay, and fantastical technology are themes that repeat themselves in my work. My goal as an artist is to illustrate things that are broad, complicated, and/or unclear. By doing art I seek to generate compassion and appreciation for life for all people in these current times.
