We got in country in March 2003. In fact we were only in country 10 min when we were welcomed by one of Saddam's Scud missiles. My unit being a decon unit got reassigned to the Marines 1st FSSG later on then given to the 1st Marines Expeditionary Force. (1st MEF) So even though I joined the Army the Marines were telling us what to do. Fun, fun.

Please would you post a pic of you in garb, with your new blade? And a good high res' pic of the blade in good light? My photo skills really suck, and I didn't have time to get a good photo before sending it off. Thanks again. Even Steven!

Hope you feel better soon. The same thing is going around our house now. I've had it for since Saturday and am just now getting over it. Now my eldest boy came down with it hard. Its showing signs of getting my other young ones to. So yeah. Don't know if its the N1H1 or just the flu A. Both are running around our area. I don't know if you should feed it or starve it but do one of them and get well soon.

Best Regards,
Heath

Rest up and get healthy. I can wait a couple more days. There are people that count on you, so get better. I'll get my sword sooner than later so I'm not worried. Enjoy the movie.

Got her deburring wheel polished, but as I was cotton buffing to a super mirror polish a few imperfections in the steel itself showed up. ( Now I know how I got a $330 steel bar, for $168 ) (?) Pisses me off something terrible. People come at you like they are doing you a really big favor, and in reality there "F"ing you in the butt. Don't be alarmed, ...It's not a huge ugly non-solvable problem that would effect the use, and technological properties of the steel. Its good stuff. Elastic. Springs back to true. Has a nice balance, point of percussion, (homonics), and will hold a good edge for a long time. But I'm known for my perfectionism, and don't like things that can bite me in the ass later.

I think I can fix it, ( micro pocks barley visible to the eye untrained ). Tomorrow I'll buff them out, but we might have to be satisfied with less than a pure mirror polish? Might have to settle for level one mirror, which I don't like, but at this point I'm not starting back from scratch.
Thanks for commenting, .. I am feeling some better, and was glad to get some shop time if only a few hours.

I have faith in your judgment. I'm sure it is only a small imperfection. We can chalk it up as character.

Melissa said, I ought to black etch it, and nobody would know. You have to really look hard to see it, so I'll take a pic, and let you decide.

Not to give you more work but black etching would be umber cool.

Well, here's something you might have thought you'd never here. IT'S DONE. Sorry. Since I didn't get back to ya quick enough, I finished it, and packed it, as I have carpal tunnel surgery tomorrow, and didn't want you to have too wait another two weeks or so. So sorry on the black etch.

IF you want to do that yourself it's not hard, only messy, somewhat dangerous, if you're not used to chemicals? Just cal, (765) 478-9343, I'll walk ya through it. All you need is a PVC pipe long enough, and wide enough for the blade. Some duct tape. About 4 bottles of PCB etchant: picked up at Radio Shack for $5 ea. Some ( two gallons) of apple cider vinegar, OOOO steel wool, baking soda, and amonia glass cleaner.

It will go out in the am mail, and I'll send you the conf' and tracking numbers tomorrow. But I'll be loopy from the pain med's so no promises on spelling and cognition.

Also sorry it took so long, but I can say I enjoyed making this one, even with all the obstacles we talked about at other times.

Well met, and hope to see you someday man to man.

Blessings on your wife and family.

From one Dysfunctional Vet to another God bless.

Well I must say I really like hearing those words. I think that there are my new favorite ones. "Its Done" Yeah, I like em. I think that etching can wait. I'm just happy that it is done and on its way. I let you know when I get it. And good luck tomorrow. We will pray for a speedy recovery for you. Thanks always.
