Practicing is the best part of any artists goals, you get to draw more XD

I just came to tell that your request "a koala playing a didgeridoo" is done[link] . I wasn't sure you had noticed it or not I'm planning to do your other request later once i have had some practise at drawing humans.

no problem
i'll going to be blunt, because beating around the bush isnt my thing. so a blanket "not trying to be rude" for this statement. its always a love/hate reaction when i find an artist better than myself... O.O you're fantastic, (not michaelangelo, but way above me) and i cant say im not jealous. i've kind of hit a wall, so its frustrating looking at other peoples stuff when they clearly know what they're doing. im not sure if its because im no good or because i still draw on 8x11 paper with crayola pencils, but i could definately use some advice- after i've passed the beginner level, how do i get better? i ask people, and they always just say "practice", which isnt helpful since i know that already and have been at it for years. any tips?

Well, first the "practice" thing is not overreacted, but it gets kinda boring after hearing too many times. I actually take some time, erase stuff a lot, and give up in the middle of several drawings, and they seldom come out the way I like. For starters, some references. Are you reading tutorials on anatomy? Have you tried to draw people in the most varied positions possible? That will help a lot when drawing battle scenes.
Faces are not my strong point, so I'll just limit myself to "draw from portraits and people. even in the street". Can't help you much more than that.
Equipment is easy, it's a matter of patience and researching what they used exactly, but I believe you got that covered.
The stuff I use are normally HB pencils for the sketch, and 2b, 4b and 6b pencils for the outline and shading. I used to use 0.05 pens and 0.1 pens for the outline, but that last one was without them, and it's not that bad.
but even if you think you hit a wall, you probably didn't. Sometimes it takes time for you to realise you are actually improving. And when people say "practice", it's just for you to keep on drawing. You think it's the same shit, until you look at your same drawings from 1 year earlier and notice how much you improve
so keep it up, there are not many of us who likes to draw war, and DA definitely needs some!

thanks! thats actually pretty helpful. i have anatomy down, and the books i used to learn were heavy on the basics for faces, but i dont draw people in varied positions. thats definately something i should start doing.
much appreciated
