Hey John,

How's it going? Just getting back into the DA thing.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sergeantpepper In reply to mkeefe [2008-06-07 17:33:47 +0000 UTC]

hi! it's going well thanks, i don't spend as much time on the computer or with photoshop as I used to, but life is generally good at the moment, and i'm getting the occasional job.
I'm not an avid DAer myself, but i do check it, so i'll look forward to seeing your work.
Are you designing/coding as a full time job? And when/why did you visit Japan?

a side note; at least for me the link to the interactive SKYfi3 demo lead to the delphi site but they couldn't find the right page.

mkeefe In reply to Sergeantpepper [2008-06-08 19:54:57 +0000 UTC]

That's cool, leaving the computer is always good. I am still freelancing full time, doing pretty well at it. Japan was a vacation, something I have always wanted to do.

I just noticed that SKYfi3 demo link too, I will have to contact them about that. Or just find the correct page, but the demo is almost 3 years old now.

Take care,
Matt

Glad to hear you're doing well from freelancing, you have great skill so it's nice to know there's a market for it. Japan is one place I would definitely like to visit myself some day, it seems to maintain a culture of its own which is what makes traveling interesting aside from climate and scenery change which it also has. Also a big contrast between their cities and rural/island areas, did you see both?

all the best

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mkeefe In reply to Sergeantpepper [2008-06-08 21:29:48 +0000 UTC]

Yes! We started off in Tokyo (all city, interesting on its own). Then over to Hakone and ended in Kyoto, with a brief day trip to Hiroshima and Miyajima. It was really nice to see so many cultures, also they are so different when it comes to the US so that was nice too.

I wrote up an extended post on my blog, over here:

You're welcome, i found you through eyball3200's faves, his coloured pencil drawings have always amazed me as do yours, I'd no idea so much could be achieved through them... are prismacolours very much different from most coloured pencils, and is the paper quality also very important?
obviously the skill is the most important, but to get the colours and sharpness takes both skill and equipment is my thinking behind the question

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AdamPinsonArt In reply to Sergeantpepper [2008-04-23 15:00:29 +0000 UTC]

Hi mr Pepper,
thanks.......... Prismacolors are pretty soft and vibrant, the only thing is i cant get them here in Spain anymore as they stopped making them for Europe !!! bastards, i could order them from ebay but i need open stock and it's just not possible as i go through tons of them. Right now i'm using Polychromos made by Faber Castell , a little harder to use on big blends (because they are harder) ie. sky's etc..... but nice for detail and i seem to get more mileage from them, good quality and lightfast too. The paper i always use is Strathmore 400 or 500 cold press made from cotton, it's REALLY hard wearing and almost impossible to damage with colour pencil, also electric erasers are no problem either, only thing is they only sell it in the USA!!!! so every 5 years i have to go to New York and buy more. I believe i have only just scratched the surface of what this medium has to offer and look forward to the future.
Please feel free to mail me anytime,
cheers,
adam

Your "Elephant" has to be the most wonderful rendition of a pacaderm that I have ever seen. And the fact that you have an electric violin in your photo makes it even more fascinating.

That's a huge compliment thankyou! I'm actually a classical and contemporary guitarist but I wanted to pick up the violin again, hence the electric, really cheap ebay setup!
