You won first place in my Phobias contest! [link] here is the journal so that you can see what you have won and if you want to take them or not. I need to know so that I can get all the drawings done.

erm ... I came to your page to thank you for the add. Then I read about China and became totally distracted and thanked you for a fave instead. 👍: 0 ⏩: 1

s'okay. I usually just hide those comments anyway. I fave the things I like and watch the people who interest me, I'm not doing any favours.
You wouldn't believe the lengths I have to go to for a decent cup of coffee here. Hmm, sounds like a journal topic...

Perhaps you could get a Keurig. We have one. It makes one cup of marvelous coffee at a time. Of course I have no idea of what shipping to China would entail in terms of cost. We get all the supplies from amazon. My husband is a coffee lover. I drink decaff but it does start my day.

I have friends back in Canada who use one of those. Unrealistic for me, though - shipping would be murderous, it takes months for international packages to get through the Chinese postal service, and things often go missing from packages (postal workers will open packages and take what they want).

Came to teach English for a year about 7 years ago. Generally the pros of living here have outweighed the cons (scarcity of coffee notwithstanding), cost of living is low, salaries are reasonably high (for foreign English teachers) and I went and got married here. We've just opened our own school, so the hope is we can build it up, make a good sized nest-egg, then sell it for a bundle and move back to Canada. We'll see how that goes.

My daughter has just begun college to study Japanese language and culture in hopes of one day teaching ESL there and then also translating young adult books. You venture sounds exciting.

So desu ka? Japanese was my third language, although I haven't spoken it much in the last 10 years or so. I've forgotten most of my German, too. Languages really are use it or lose it propositions.

She has studied on her own for about 12 years, half her life. Last year she traveled to see Gazette at the Tokyo Dome and managed everything on her own. I was impressed. And it all started with Sailor Moon.

Mostly bit parts in crappy Chinese TV shows and the occasional advert. Not much to sink my teeth into, I'm afraid. For an example of what I mean: go here . I'm in episodes 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 24.
