Nonsense, I say. All you gotta do is draft first. Use ovals and circles to create "mannequins". That way you can iron out silly things early on, and your drawings will come out a lot better.

I use ovals when working on smaller pieces XD
Im doing animation at school, so we ahve to create a character for that, but when im sketching I dont worry about it all that much XD
Whe i get some more practise and probably some lessons ill work on it XD

Okay. It's just sometimes when you draw a character without a draft or form to base it off, it looks very "flat", like the character has laid down on the paper and then you've stamped him into it. I'm talking about the very stereotypical "spaghetti arms" that a lot of artists draw when they first start, instead of drafting ovals of the arms to come straight off the upper body and shoulders, they just draw two curved lines to represent both shoulder and arm, which looks very strange.
