My dear Krampus (also a black cat) recently had a really nasty wound (vet suspects it was caused by a shovel :s ) and basically looks like your Scratchy at your Cone Cat deviation (old account) now, cone included. Her tail had to be amputated too but she also has urinating issues which could be serious obstacles in her way to recovery. I hope that Scratchy recovered since then and please pray for my Krampus too!

Unfortunately, Scratchy passed away recently because she was diagnosed with feline leukemia (completely unrelated to the cone incident). Nonetheless, I'll keep Krampus in my thoughts and I hope she feels better soon!

When I saw your photo yesterday, for a second I thought I saw my Krampus, they look so similar. Just had to comment since I know exactly how you felt back then. On a slightly brighter note (for me at least), Krampus is getting better each day and urinating may not be a problem anymore either (she has a large wound that had to be closed with 11 stitches, right on her butt). I hope that she can stay with me for at least as long as Scratchy was there for you. Black cats are the best.

I'm really happy that Krampus is doing okay! Scratchy also had a rather large wound on her butt, but it healed up pretty quickly for her. I hope that Krampus will be around for a long time. Black cats really are the best. :]
Thank you for caring about Scratchy. Everyone misses her a lot, especially me. I'm just happy she's not in pain anymore. Leukemia isn't fun :[

Thank you very much, though her future is still a bit questionable. She should be over the worst part though now. I just wish my posts wouldn't have such a bad timing for you, regarding Scratchy.
We have almost lost Krampus because of this incident and at some point we have even tried to accept that it would be the best for her to put her to sleep, so she wouldn't be in pain anymore. That was when the vet got us some unexpected good news and since then her health has been improving really fast (the "accident" happened on the 7th of this month).
And although I didn't know Scratchy, as a black cat owner in a similar situation, I feel your pain. I'm sure she has made your world a much better place, similar to what my Krampus is doing for us.
