You're very welcome. Your art is phenomenal. I really like your bredth--extant and extinct, local and foreign. It's neat that an artist who lives in such a target-rich environment as Africa would draw fauna like Pikas and Ringtails that live in my neck of the woods.

I really think that art like this does an amazing job of conveying the majesty of nature. You rarely think of "beauty" as an adjective for wombats or warthogs, but your drawings truly convey that.

What's going on, Evan?? It's been a while, lol

Not much--well, actually, lots. I'm moving to Sweden in August--long winters and weird food ahoy. Getting everything sorted out for that is proving interesting. Apparently AT&T doesn't stand for "European Telephone and Telegraph" so I'm having to switch phone plans to something they've got over there...in the meantime, I'm soaking up as much sun as I can while I have it and enjoying some outdoor adventures. Astonishingly, no one seems anxious to hire you when you're planning to flee the country in a month and a half...
How about yourself? Life been treating you well?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

WoodFire0 In reply to ShepherdCartography [2011-06-21 22:25:03 +0000 UTC]

Sweden?? That's...random, lol. Why Sweden, if you don't mind me asking.
And life has been good for me. Being a mom and wife, nothing too interesting! I lie, every day is an adventure with my son, hahaha. He's growing up so fast and is learning new things all the time. It's been great. But besides that, I'm still living in Lodi, same apartment, my husband is still working at the Stockton Airport. Not much else has changed!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

ShepherdCartography In reply to WoodFire0 [2011-06-22 02:48:55 +0000 UTC]

Just looking to get away from California, and Sweden was my first ticket out. Actually, it worked out quite well. The language is child's play, and I'm looking forward to living in a place that rarely gets over 80 degrees. plus, some expeditions in the sub-arctic sounded like too much fun to pass up--

You all sound very happy. Little kids are absolutely awesome; it must be neat to have one of your own.

WoodFire0 In reply to ShepherdCartography [2011-06-22 07:10:22 +0000 UTC]

Ah okay. Are you going to school out there or gonna work? But that sounds exciting! I know you'll take plenty of pictures! And it'll be fun to be young, out on your own in a new country. You'll have plenty of opportunity for adventures.

Yes, we're happy. It's amazing having my son. I love being able to watch him grow and learn new things. When I give him something new to hold, he puts it in one hand, turns it around, inspects it carefully, then passes it to the other hand and does the same thing. It's pretty awesome watching him discover things.

And, if he's anything like other toddlers, promptly sticks it in his mouth, right?

I'm going to be going to school, which is good, because otherwise I'd be hard-pressed to afford housing. We'll see when I get there if anyone's willing to hire a dim American college student who constantly gets his รค's and รฅ's mixed up. It might not even be legal to work on a student visa. I shall certainly be taking pictures, though and try and keep in touch with everyone. If you'd like, you can send me a note with your e-mail so I can put you on my newsletter...thing.

WoodFire0 In reply to ShepherdCartography [2011-06-23 17:57:18 +0000 UTC]

LoL well he isn't a toddler yet. He just turned 6 months yesterday, so he's got a while to go before he reaches the toddler stage!

And sure, I'll send you my e-mail. I hope you have a great time!

I suppose so. My brothers kind of skew one's perception. My older brother, freak that he was, was talking before he hit 1 year. I'm pretty sure my younger brother was walking by that point. He picked his head up and looked around the day we brought him home from the hospital. On the other hand, I'm pretty certain they're escaped lab experiments--do you have any idea what it's like to be the only normal one in your family? Anyway, I'm off to stick my hands in boxes of angry bees.

Wow. That's terrible - you should grab and external hard drive!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

ShepherdCartography In reply to MigratoryEagle [2011-01-13 21:42:27 +0000 UTC]

I have one, but backing up has never been my strong suit. Rest assured, I'm going to start. If I can get the new drive to behave properly...
What've you been doing? My brother and I camped at Big Sur right above that beach where you took that awesome picture on New Years. Thanks for being partial inspiration for that trip, it was awesome.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

MigratoryEagle In reply to ShepherdCartography [2011-01-14 01:30:03 +0000 UTC]

Fabulous! I am current at UCI doing my triple major. You are probably going to laugh at me for this, but I plan on interning in the FBI after I graduate.

I miss camping so much. All the development and urban sprawl in Southern California only makes me crave for nature moreso.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

ShepherdCartography In reply to MigratoryEagle [2011-01-14 07:49:04 +0000 UTC]

I'm sure you can find some stuff--the PCT goes all the way to Mexico. Of course, the biomes are different down there, but a long weekend in the Mojave would be pretty sweet, I think. Joshua Tree's down there, too.
What are your majors? And I make it a rule to never, ever laugh at someone who works for the FBI. Especially not to their face.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

MigratoryEagle In reply to ShepherdCartography [2011-01-14 07:58:20 +0000 UTC]

Aha. The first one was Anthropology, it wasn't enough, I added Political Science, then I added International Studies- now I might add Criminology as a minor. I am currently doing an honors thesis for Political Science and I regrettably chose something very obscure ...

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

ShepherdCartography In reply to MigratoryEagle [2011-01-14 16:22:46 +0000 UTC]

Regrettably? Why, Not enough material? On which subject?
I'm majoring in geography, and will hopefully be picking up an anthropology minor. I'm unsure of the jurisdiction of anthro, as it were, and may be getting some zoology and biology as well, my ultimate goal being a paleontological career.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

MigratoryEagle In reply to ShepherdCartography [2011-01-14 16:32:44 +0000 UTC]

I decided to do mines on online protests in China and how it influence government policies. Sigh ... not the most well-researched field, but that's where I come in, I guess!

That's awesome - I really wanted to go into a similar field back then, but I realize I don't have enough patience for research.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

ShepherdCartography In reply to MigratoryEagle [2011-01-15 06:30:46 +0000 UTC]

The patience aspect is not my strong suit, but my academic strengths lie primarily in spatial analysis and mapping, so that would ideally what I'd do in a professional capacity--3D modeling of excavations. If that's ultimately the direction I go in; there are plenty of other jobs in GIS, with people and animals that are still alive.

So are you thinking about doing more of a forensic anthro thing with your areas of study, or something more sociological?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

MigratoryEagle In reply to ShepherdCartography [2011-01-15 07:09:13 +0000 UTC]

No. It's Political Science.

haha. so still amanda right? she's so adorable. ^.^ i remember when i had a sleep over and i had her and sumer over. sumer got a call from some jerk she was on speaking terms with and amanda took the phone before sumer could answer it. so she's talking to this random guy, sumer is freaking out because hes going to be angry for some odd reason, and then i guess he insulted amanda because she called him a not so nice name and hung up on him. sumer was like... hes gonna kill me. i thought it was hilarious and amanda was very proud of herself. hahaha. mountaineering huh. that doesnt sound exciting one bit e_e. i wish i could do things like that. im not allowed to do much of anything anymore. =.= oh well.

ShepherdCartography In reply to Jewelle1618 [2010-08-05 15:38:35 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, still Amanda. To my continuing amazement, she's yet to come to her senses. Who was this guy in relation to Sumer? A romantic interest? He sounds like a dirtbag.
I'm hoping to climb this mountain.

well "this mountain" just takes me back to the message. so climbing the internet huh.... sounds.... uh... haha. i still have the pillow she gave me. ^.^ anyway. probably was some random dirtbag. i know this is slightly random but my cousin has a cool carving of half dome on his headstone.
