No, the wings are cosmetic and can be chosen when creating a character, under the 'back' option. There, you can find wings, backpacks, a quiver and - of course - capes. They don't cost money at all when creating a character. There are certain wings that can be bought in-game or earned as a reward for quests, however. They count as equipment and have stats, unlike the wings you can choose at the beginning.

Flying is one of the game's three main methods of traveling. In addition to that, there's super speed and acrobatics (running, climbing and gliding). You can choose one of the three. You don't need wings to fly, but if you choose flying and attach wings to your character, (s)he actually flaps them while flying.

I don't have a regular character anymore. I leveled 3 characters up to the max level and finished their quest storylines, but deleted them later to try other power and weapon combinations. I don't pay for DCUO, so I only have 2 character slots available. And at the moment, I'm using these 2 slots only to create characters I can use in my MLP crossover posts.

Also, I'm on the European server, so I don't know if you could add me at all.
