I KNOW, RIGHT??? I Vector. That scene totally came as a surprise to me, too and I kinda never got over how awesome it is.

Much as I like Whedon and Abrams, I don't know how well they'd mesh with Star Wars. I think the guys who did Tron Legacy would be good choices since they did a really good job of preserving the spirit of the original film. But they have to get John Williams back for the score, no question!

Well, the director of Tron Legacy (which is one of my favourite movies, I might add) would certainly be a good choice for designing the sets (the guy's an certified architect after all). The ones he created for TL are frickin' amazing. Despite all the computer effects, 95% of the time I didn't get the feeling of watching a computer simulation. Everything looked absolutely plastic.

But Star Wars needs more a healthy dose of solid story, characters and script. That's what it severely lacked in the prequels. And as much as I love TL, there were quite a few plotholes and the overall goal of the movie seemed very vague (e.a. the advantages of digitalized humans for humanity as a whole). Same problem with Prometheus, another film I adore despite its major flaws.

Let's hope John Williams lives long enough. The guy's not the youngest anymore.

True, I referenced Tron because while I think you're absolutely correct about the story, what SW also really needs is to maintain the soul of the originals (not the prequels) which I think Legacy pulled off nicely. It's hard to find filmmakers in this day and age who can really pull that off... whoever gets this project is gonna have their work cut out for them!!
