# About me

About Me

Hi guys! Here's a bit about me..

First things first, I am a huge horsey-person, and I actually own 2 horses. My first is called Jasper, and he's a bay 16.2hh Welsh Cob/Gypsy Vanner cross, currently 8 years old. He's absolutely gorgeous. I recently got another horse called Billy at 4 years old. He's incredibly hard-work but he's soo cute and daft.

I also have three cats and a dog. I think it's safe to say that I love all things furry! (Except tarantulas! :O)

I enjoy playing the piano; I've been playing for well over 10 years, however I've never had lessons. I play by-ear, meaning that I also cannot read sheet music. Additionally I play the violin, and the same thing can be said; I've never had lessons, I play by-ear and I don't read sheet music. I've been playing the violin only for just over a year and 6 months months; I find it incredibly difficult and demanding, but at the same time it is so rewarding and entertaining, especially knowing that I am improving upon the smallest things each day.

People say I'm incredibly random, which probably isn't conveyed in my writing..
I love puzzles, riddles and card games. I've also taught myself several magic tricks, pre-dominantly using cards or coins. I always love challenges, and I love learning new things. :D

So, I hope this has given you an insight into my life. You probably now think I'm a mad woman, and you wouldn't be completely wrong in thinking that... :/

Anyway, that's pretty much it. Thanks for reading guys, and feel free to send me a note for anything deviously and non-deviously related. :)

What do you do when, you're passionate about writing yet, your works always get more fave & run rather than comments?

Most of my fanfics are blank without any comments, so I get discouraged to continue writing when I Only get fave and run. I mean, it's great when someone likes your stories but... you then wonder abit later if... they really Did like it. Perhaps every deviant has felt this way.

Before my writing wasn't any good, after one critique (By a great Deviant who took their time out of their day to critique it.) I worked abit on my writing and Have Improved! But, if All you get are fave and run, what's the point of improving your writing?

I do understand what you're saying. In order to improve, there has to be a definite want there. But seeing as the majority of story and poetry writers on dA write because they are passionate about it - to not receive comments at all, or even to just receive positive comments, can make improving your writing a very difficult feat. I mean, why take the time and effort to improve your writing, when you can just keep writing the same way and maintain the personal enjoyment of it?

Thankfully, in my group, Deviant-Writing , we are trying our best to overcome this 'fave and run' habit that everyone has got into. We do offer our folder which is the Feedback Loop, where in order to submit one of your own pieces, you need to comment on at least 2 pieces of literature that are already in that folder. That being said, there haven't been many submissions there in a while...

Alternatively, you can send a note to MEHERmeher who is our critique specialist, and always will strive to comment and critique on pieces of literature. If you send her a couple of links to your work, she will get back to you ASAP.

Lastly, there are our advisors of the group, who are BlizzardBlitzer and BowtiesAreCool15, and you can always talk to them about your struggles (and accomplishments) in writing and they can offer ways to help and improve, or even just take the time to chat with you to help raise your spirit a little.

I hope this helps? Just know that whatever you are going through, in Deviant-Writing , we are all writers, and we have all experienced the same or very similiar things. Now that we have upgraded to Super Group status, we are going to host a number of chat sessions in our new chatroom to help members get in touch with eachother, and also myself and the other admins, to simply discuss our writing and help one another. We may also start offering points (among other benefits) to those who comment on pieces of lit in our group. All I can offer is to keep going, and you should definitely have a chat with MEHERmeher, BowtiesAreCool15 and/or BlizzardBlitzer as they are brilliant people and I can guarantee that they are more than happy to help you.

Hey. i was wondering if you could explain the concept of commissions to me?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SilhouettedRider In reply to MEHERmeher [2015-01-04 17:43:42 +0000 UTC]

Hi Thank you so much for the points and the watch! It really means a lot.

Basically commissions are a way for artists to create and sell custom artwork. If you were to commission me, for example, you might have a very specific idea or plot for a story (whether it's a one-shot short story or a chaptered novelette). I would probably ask you questions about it (so that I have a clear idea of what you're asking for) and then once we're both ready, you would pay (either in dA points or in real money via Paypal) and I would write your story out for you. I, personally, send updates (works-in-progress) every few days, but not all artists provide that added service. I would then upload the story onto deviantART and tag your username in the description.

That's the general concept! Of course, I also accept commissions where the client doesn't really have a lot of info to provide, and just gives me a generalisation or a couple of things they want included and leave me to come up with the rest. I also understand if clients don't wish for their paid stories to be published, in which case I would send a read-only copy of the MS Word document. And of course if visual artists offer commissions, then you would probably tell them what you would like drawn out or photographed and pay for and receive your artwork in a similar way.

Hope this helps!

SilhouettedRider In reply to MEHERmeher [2014-12-07 20:58:41 +0000 UTC]

Hi. Thanks for correcting this. Basically, just let me know (which you have done) whenever you have commented on 2 deviations. Alternatively, you can comment on 2 deviations first and then submit a piece to the folder, as I always check with newly submitted pieces whether the writer has made comments.

You did submit two pieces, 'Waiting' and 'Broken Chains'. Do you have a preference about which one you would like admitted first?

I, er... you offered me the chance to join your group, but I'm kind of unclear on how this things work, since I'm pretty new to dA. Also, since I haven't done much writing, I kind of ant to know what kind of writing you liked.
And, like...how I could be helpful and just generally what being in this group is like...
Thank you.

SilhouettedRider In reply to Aetherny [2014-11-19 10:55:32 +0000 UTC]

Whether you do a lot or very little writing doesn't matter at all.

In Deviant-Writing , you can submit your pieces of literature to our group Gallery (whether you submit three times a week or once a year; it really doesn't matter!), and we recently created a new folder called the 'Feedback Loop', and in order to post to it, you need to comment on at least two literature deviations that are already in that folder! That then means that members will comment on yours to post their own.

I read 'So Said', which has also been featured in our group Favourites, and most recently, 'In Love', which I thought conveyed real fears and would relate to a lot of people.

If you want to help our community, then all you have to do is read some of the literature submitted to our group, and fave the ones you like, leave comments (whether purely positive, or positive with constructive criticism), and watch your favourite members! (Nothing you wouldn't normally do on deviantART.)

I hope this helps a little. Thank you for leaving your comment!
