God

Silkeyn In reply to Noremac-Demigod [2010-09-05 21:18:32 +0000 UTC]

Ah, here was my response:
"Perhaps god is as much something as we are."
But then he would still need something to create him XD.

"What are we but nothing?"
We are something; the fact that something exists is axiomatic. If we were nothing though, and nothing needs no creator, then a creator god is still redundant.

"There is no part of the body where you find the soul."
And what is a soul?

"You won't know until you die."
When I die, it's likely that I will no longer be, so I won't have the capacity to know.

"but you can never have that understanding. You will ALWAYS be wrong"
Here's an example of a professor and an imbicile: Neither of them are all knowing, but the professor (hopefully) knows more than the imbicile. Thier relative understandings are different, even if neither of them have perfect knowledge.

Not only is he a psychologist, but a detective as well. Well done.

Would he? If the soul does not exist in the world of everything, then they are nothing, and have no beginning.

We, as in our souls, are nothing. Nothing needs no creator, and so god may exist. But everything needs a creator, and so god has a purpose.

Nothing to be sure. That's why you can't find it.

Maybe not, a mental will that is strong enough, when exposed to absolute nothing, may act like a god, creating a limited reality around it, imposing order upon nothing. At least, you should have enough will power to maintain your body.

Ok, but they can know somethings and be correct on some of them. Not all, but some. You're first argument was more absolute.

"But everything needs a creator, and so god has a purpose."
Again, if everyone needs a creator, who created god? You gotta be careful about circular logic XD.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Noremac-Demigod In reply to Silkeyn [2010-09-05 22:56:00 +0000 UTC]

But he isn't part of everything! Nothing isn't part of everything! So, if god is nothing, and nothing can exist without being created, then he can exist to create something which needs to be created! It's not circular at all.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Silkeyn In reply to Noremac-Demigod [2010-09-06 19:49:05 +0000 UTC]

But nothing does not exist. Because it is nothing. Nothing is nothing, the absence of something, a null, a zero, a space of vacuum. It certainly is not capable of intellegence.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Noremac-Demigod In reply to Silkeyn [2010-09-06 21:40:12 +0000 UTC]

Which is hypocritical if I'm right. Because, if I'm right, then you yourself are nothing. And therefor you are nothing, intelligently debating that you are not intelligent. This is what ties into the whole, "Where IS your soul?" thing. Because I don't think you can find the soul as part of the body because it doesn't exist. We don't exist.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Silkeyn In reply to Noremac-Demigod [2010-09-06 23:14:03 +0000 UTC]

Then one must ask "what does exist?" Clearly something exists, as we are arguing with each other, so surely one of us exists at least.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Noremac-Demigod In reply to Silkeyn [2010-09-06 23:47:36 +0000 UTC]

Our bodies exist as the puppets to our souls. If our souls were part of the physical words, we wouldn't be able to think. Everything is governed by the laws of physics, so in order for us to be able to form thought and make decisions, we must not be governed by the pre-determining laws. Souls must be governed by their own laws, ones that run deeper than even those of physics, the laws of nothing. Therefor, we must not exist.

Silkeyn In reply to Noremac-Demigod [2010-09-07 01:03:36 +0000 UTC]

...you do realize how ridiculous that is, right? Remember the defintion of bigotry: That which is believed without grounds. Do you have some kind of proof for any of this?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Noremac-Demigod In reply to Silkeyn [2010-09-07 09:53:22 +0000 UTC]

Indeed I do. There is no proof what so ever to sustain any investigation into my theory. This lends great credit to it, as what force but nothing could leave no traces?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Silkeyn In reply to Noremac-Demigod [2010-09-07 23:34:20 +0000 UTC]

So...nothing created something, is what you are saying? And that "nothing" would for some reason create something other than nothing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Noremac-Demigod In reply to Silkeyn [2010-09-08 09:55:21 +0000 UTC]

Nothing must have created something. Before the universe existed there was nothing, and after it, there will be nothing. So yes, you've about got it.

Does this mean I can be hit by the absence of a brick?

You aren't already?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Silkeyn In reply to Noremac-Demigod [2010-09-09 15:20:29 +0000 UTC]

No. If someone throws the absence of a brick at me, nothing will hit be because there is nothing there to hit me (except perhaps the negligible air current pushed towards me by the motion of the other person's arm; this isn't a brick though).

Noremac-Demigod In reply to Silkeyn [2010-09-09 15:33:46 +0000 UTC]

Sure you are. You are currently not being hammered by as many non-existent bricks as you want.

"You are currently not being hammered by as many non-existent bricks as you want."
Lol, that is true; I am currently not being hammered with bricks XD. Or non-bricks, whatever those are.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Noremac-Demigod In reply to Silkeyn [2010-09-09 15:39:08 +0000 UTC]

Well then, if you are not being hammered by non-existent bricks I petty you, for you must be being hammered by real bricks then.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Silkeyn In reply to Noremac-Demigod [2010-09-12 20:19:15 +0000 UTC]

So...to be hammered by non-bricks is to not be hammered at all?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Noremac-Demigod In reply to Silkeyn [2010-09-13 09:46:06 +0000 UTC]

Yes

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Silkeyn In reply to Noremac-Demigod [2010-09-13 19:45:05 +0000 UTC]

In that case, I wish upon you a thousand non-bricks! XD

Uhhhhhh.... ok

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Silkeyn In reply to Noremac-Demigod [2010-09-13 21:39:01 +0000 UTC]

Lol XD. By your own logic, I'm wishing upon you the absence of a thousand bricks from somewhere above you .

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Noremac-Demigod In reply to Silkeyn [2010-09-13 22:15:54 +0000 UTC]

And also by my logic, this is the saddest attempt on my life ever.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Silkeyn In reply to Noremac-Demigod [2010-09-14 14:44:20 +0000 UTC]

It's the absence of an attempt on your life .

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Noremac-Demigod In reply to Silkeyn [2010-09-14 14:46:31 +0000 UTC]

No, it's an attempt on my life with an absence. Difference.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Silkeyn In reply to Noremac-Demigod [2010-09-14 14:50:40 +0000 UTC]

So...by that logic, if I were to not shoot you (the absence of shooting), I'd be attempting to kill you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Noremac-Demigod In reply to Silkeyn [2010-09-14 14:52:32 +0000 UTC]

No, but if you attempted to shoot me with non existing bullets, you would have tried to kill me

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Silkeyn In reply to Noremac-Demigod [2010-09-14 14:55:19 +0000 UTC]

You mean with a real gun I thought was loaded? Or a non-existent gun too?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Noremac-Demigod In reply to Silkeyn [2010-09-14 15:02:51 +0000 UTC]

Either way. The point is that if you make an attempt on my life with anything, and even nothing, you've still made an attempt on my life. You can agree with that logic right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Silkeyn In reply to Noremac-Demigod [2010-09-16 00:25:24 +0000 UTC]

No. If I point a non-existant gun at you, I am probably pretending to shoot you, or at the very worst, suggesting that I want to shoot you with a real gun. Unless I am insane, I do not think that pretending to shoot you would count as anything more than a threat of a real shooting.
