I have just rearranged all my faves onto their relevant collections, 400 odd ha ha, I did wonder if it would generate new fave alerts, I guess so, that means there are a lot of new apparent faves from me all over dA

Simon-P In reply to JanMurphyPhoto [2011-09-19 18:16:58 +0000 UTC]

Its a right work up, though you can select multiple files that you want to move to the same collection, but it was a Magnas Magnuson thing in the end
It was a mess and bugging me, so I guess worth it!
I wont let it get in that mess again, that for certain

Hey there. Nice to have a watcher that doesn't fall in category a) people who've worked with me or category b) people who think I have a nice bum. Yay, wider appeal! <3

Nice lightpaintings too.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Simon-P In reply to TansyBlue [2011-06-26 23:25:04 +0000 UTC]

Ha ha, I'm sure your bum is fine, couldn't possibly comment on that, I just happen to like your work and stole your dA link from somewhere on PS
Glad you like the Light-painting, I'm a bit of a nocturnal creature, so that kind of works quite well!
Wider appeal is always a good thing.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TansyBlue In reply to Simon-P [2011-06-26 23:36:45 +0000 UTC]

LOL! It's not for me to judge really is it. XD I'm glad you like my work, yay for producing stuff people like!
I'm hoping if I have really wide appeal I can supplement "pure" modelling income by flogging stuff to dA people. I'm not sure what stuff yet, but, err, stuff.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Simon-P In reply to TansyBlue [2011-06-26 23:46:18 +0000 UTC]

Don't hold your breath on the selling stuff here, there are thousands at it, there are probably easier ways, then again I am crap at marketing, I just like to make nice pictures, anything else is a bonus.
This is kind of an "Art Facebook", the more active you are, the more likely you are to sell something.
Still dA do seem to have pioneered many of the current trends.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TansyBlue In reply to Simon-P [2011-06-27 00:01:31 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I'm not really sure what I'd sell either as I don't own copyright to anything. I was sick of so many pretty images sitting on disc in a shoebox in a room anyway. And it was frustrating not having anywhere to showcase the occasional abstract piece.

I think the only person who's made any actual money on here is KayFedewa with that wolf thing she does. Which I liked. 4 years ago. Oh dear it's so embarrassing. (Even more embarrassing, I checked out her page a week ago and STILL liked it...)

dA is best for looking at pretty things methinks.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Simon-P In reply to TansyBlue [2011-06-27 18:29:26 +0000 UTC]

It certainly is a good place to look at other art, quite a lot of other media here too, if you like any of that.
It never hurts to have somewhere else to put stuff, you may not otherwise use, and its free if you can handle all the ad's
Unlike some other art sites, there is no upload restriction, which can be both good and bad I guess, if you do sell stuff, you can use it to pay for an upgrade, so its still essentially "free"
Some photographers may let you sell on a profit share basis.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TansyBlue In reply to Simon-P [2011-06-28 02:00:45 +0000 UTC]

After spending the majority of my conscious life on the internet, I've got ad blockers in my eyes.
I have been here for 5 years y'know. XD I remember (vaguely) when there was a counter on the front page with the number of artworks uploaded.
Right now I'd rather make pretty images than fuss about with profit share. I'll just point those who want prints in the relevant photographer's direction and if the photographer wants to share profit, awesome, if not then that's pretty fair as chances are I'm making more off the images than they are anyway. (As I mainly work with enthusiastic amateurs or product/wedding/portrait photographers, and images of me don't usually advertise them, but images of me DEFINITELY advertise me.)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Simon-P In reply to TansyBlue [2011-06-28 13:49:40 +0000 UTC]

Yes I know you have been here 5 years (I can read ) which means you have a year advantage over me. Yeh, I remember the counter too, maybe its still there, I hardly ever visit the front page.
I suspect you are right about the amount you make from a shoot Vs the photographer, probably not rocket science to figure out. I am the same more interested in the creation than the money, just as well, or I may as well jump off a big bridge ha ha.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TansyBlue In reply to Simon-P [2011-06-28 23:59:45 +0000 UTC]

I didn't really use dA for anything more than reading comics about wolves and horses and dragons for the first two years, to be fair. The front page is cool, often there's just animΓ© and porn (and animΓ© porn) up there, but occaasionally you find something lovely...

Yeah, I really like the process of modelling, in some ways more than the actual images. That's something I want to experiment with; placing restrictions on the actual process (limiting time, stilting interactions, that kind of thing...). I think the process of creation (in art at least) is often just as interesting and important as the results.

The money's pretty shiny...it feels good to be making my own money and not leeching off my parents 100%. It's nice to be able to buy extravagant presents for people and still be able to afford the Tube fare to give it to them. And I'm hoping that - if I spend my money wisely, especially on dance lessons and make up tuition - eventually it'll make me a better model. And then make EVEN BETTER pictures. (Although if my bank accepted prints, I'd work for them all the time.)
